    Hoping for Act II
This was a super insightful podcast with real world application. Plus, the hostess had a soothing voice and cadence. Hopefully after a hiatus all will resume. Regardless, she gives timeless advice about situations in the workplace. It’s worth a listen even now. Cheers.

Work Advice That's Not Work to Listen To
Alison has a great conversational tone that makes it easy to get into the podcast, and the length is perfect. I was so bummed to hear in a recent episode that she was discontinuing the series. If you're a reader of the Ask a Manager blog, you're probably not going to discover anything radical here. Alison's pretty consistent in the type of advice she gives and the sorts of questions she answers. But even though this advice feels a bit familiar, this format makes for a nice refresher.

    Incredible Advice!!
I found this podcast through an ad on another podcast and I’m totally hooked. Alison gives such good advice and I often find I turn to her podcast when I’m stressed about something at work for advice and reassurance. I’m sad to hear she’ll be ending the show, (maybe do just once a month haha!) but I understand. Can’t recommend this podcast enough!!

    So sad it’s almost over!😫
I am deeply saddened that this podcast will end. I looked forward to this every week and you have been truly an inspiration and an amazing mentor/role model. Thank you so much for ally hat you have given. I truly appreciate the advise. Please keep us in the loop if your show comes back and any podcasts that do the Somali thing to yours!

    Bummed this is ending
Loved the show. Completely bummed this is ending.

    Good listen overall
I strongly prefer the episodes where Alison talks to somebody who writes in or when she has another guests. The ones that are just spoken versions of the blog are not as fun to listen to. I prefer to read them in that context.

    Excellent, practical advice
This podcast is the training I never received when I became a manager. Allison’s sample language and clear explanations of how our decisions, words, and tone impact others provides invaluable insight that I’ve found myself applying both personally and professionally.

I love this podcast and the accomponying blog, because so many different aspects of working life are covered. Alison's advice is always sound and well thought out.

    Timely advice
I am a new manager and the advice on ask a manager has helped me tremendously, thank you!

    Too many commercials
Overall decent advice but definitely geared towards millennials that don’t know any better. This weeks Christmas office party episode had a couple of real doozies, especially the vegetarian that was offended by meat. WAY too many commercials in this podcast, extremely annoying.

    For ALL people in LIFE
I am a freelancer, and not in the corporate world at all, and I LOVE this podcast. At a base level, it is about human dynamics and communication. A skillset that everyone needs. Alison provides terrific advice on so many situations. Anyone wanting to hone interpersonal skills, and how to approach difficult situations in a working environment should listen to this podcast. I look forward to every installment.

The most important office advice podcast
A continuation of the popular Askamanager brand. It’s wonderful to be able to hear tone since that has always been an important part of Alison’s answers. The back and forth with letter writers is also great.

    Faithful listener!
I more recently discovered this podcast. Love the pace and advice. It is especially helpful to hear how Alison engages with her guests. I’m excited that there are now two podcasts per week!

    Highest Possible Compliments
I spent so much time listening to my 1st podcast going "Yep!" and "So true." We assume, as adults, we know how to manage most professional work situations. But, sometimes, we need a little help...and that's where Allison comes in. Direct, useful, sensible, applicable suggestions for unique scenarios is what she provides. I know I will take what I learn here to heart and only improve upon my abilities in the workplace as a result. Thank you, Allison!!!

Good advice under a lot of fluff
Guest: “I’m a *insert type of person*” Host: “So based on what I’m hearing from you in all of these struggles that you and many people like you are facing is that you like many people in your situation are a *insert type of person*. Am I right “ Guest: “omg your so right” Host: “here’s the 20th commercial “

    Workplace relationships
Alison has really good perspective on how to interact with co-workers. When I hear the caller's problems, I feel stumped, but Alison solves them in short order!

    Great podcast but...
The sound quality needs to be cleaned up

If you have a job, listen to this!
Allison Green offers smart advice with compassion, insight, and intelligence. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who manages staff, work for a manager, or is looking for a job. I have learned so much about how to be a better team player, tips on interpersonal dynamics, and the employer-employee relationship that I’d never considered before. All around a top notch podcast.

    Interesting-Way too Many Commercial Breaks
I liked the topics but after 3 episodes that are at least 1/3 commercials, I find myself reaching for the 15 seconds forward button constantly. I listen to a lot of podcasts and can say I generally just tune out the commercials without even noticing at this point. Most are inobtrusive to the overall listening experience but for some reason in this podcast, they are halting interruptions. Conversations, ideas, and trains of thought are cut off at inopportune times. It seems as though no one is producing this but an automated system cuts in at certain interval as there is no apparent consideration that this is a very poor model to draw audiences in and keep listeners listening. At the most, the host and guest are on for 3 or 4 minutes of content before being cut off by repetitive advertising that sticks out like a sore thumb. I gave it a chance but am unsubscribing.

    Love this podcast!
This podcast gives great advice on dealing with issues that come up with coworkers. I really enjoy how she works with callers to be assertive.

    Great advice
I actually really like the audio, maybe it’s her voice but the host reminds me of the speakers on NPR. Great advice here, found this podcast via another. Hope she continues to post!

Wish I would have had this advice years ago
Now retired, I had the pleasure and challenge of managing hundreds of people over my career in both education and high tech. During that time I have had great employees and bosses as well as some who were not so great. Much of what I learned was by the seat of my pants and by reading about management theory and practice. What I like about Ask a Manager is how practical and actionable the advice is. The situations presented about workplace issues are spot-on and familiar to almost anyone who has been in a job - be it a large coporation, mom-and-pop shop, non-profits, or government. We all face similar challenges. Everyone has a boss, so advice about "managing up" is always helpful. We all have co-workers, and you may have subordinates. This podcast is for everyone who works with others and the inevitable hard conversations that may need to happen and how to conduct them. Highly recommended.

    Fantastic Advice
Alison Green has people share their work-related queries and answers them thoughtfully and thoroughly. The advice is shared as an organic answer to their question and I have found that many of the topics are relatable to what I experience at work.

    Love Allison
Amazing modeling of how to help people solve problems. not even just work problems, but I really appreciate her modeling tools like "do you think that's something you'd be comfortable doing " as a way to check in with people. great show!

Love the content; hate the ads
She starts out without ads but they start appearing a few episodes in. I’m a long time blog reader, and I understand the need to make money, but mid-episode ads are super annoying.
  • elrugg
    Love it
I’ve been a fan of the blog for a long time and the podcast is a great new format for more of Alison’s amazing advice. Her voice is so pleasant and a joy to listen to.

Great podcast, but feels like its aimed fully for Women
I was going into this for hopeful, good advice. We all are unsure how to go about all these subjects, and the podcast really does talk about important stuff. However, they do bring up gender alot and its never really supportive towards men, only women. That kind of hurts because everyone should be able to identify with this podcast.

Excellent podcast for employees and managers!
All recommendations and ideas of this podcast seem completely relatable and able to be performed in real work life. 100% recommended for all people on a business administration and structured work environment. In terms of podcast delivery, there are episodes that seem to have a bit too much ads for the length of time, in my opinion. Aside from that, excellent podcast! Keep the good work!

    You helped me be assertive!
Only an hour ago, I received an offer from a company and prepped myself by listening to your epiosde on salary negotiation for the 2nd time! Still waiting to hear if they've gotten it approved but felt really confident. Thank you for your great advice!

There's a tip in every episode that I can apply to my work life.
  • Not as nice as I sound
Such fantastically practical words of wisdom
Every episode has something useful to take away. A deeply valuable addition to the blog of the same name, being able to hear tone makes a tremendous difference.
