Unique and riveting glimpses into people’s deeply personal stories of hardship. Each one unfolds very naturally and is told with a huge amount of empathy. I was inspired by every subject and their bravery in sharing their experiences so candidly.

So so love Shannon and his guests. I feel like I’m sitting in on a conversation between old friends. Each interview is so intimate and raw. We need more shows like this about everyday people!

This is a wonderful show. I feel like my heart and empathy grew three sizes today. I am wishing the very best for all the troubled guest and wonderfully engaging host.

I love stories and topics that appeal to our critical thinking abilities. Unfortunately there are so many podcasts out there that delve into social sciences to the point where they all sound and seem the same. I’m so glad I gave this podcast a chance because Shannon really knows how to tell a narrative without getting caught up in something else that has nothing to do with the story, e.g. podcasters often talk about their prosaic lives the first ten minutes of their shows or chronically interrupt the interviewee with their insight or beliefs. This is straightforward ear-catching nonfiction that leaves out the annoying residue that other podcasts just can’t seem to shake.

Love this podcast! Reminds me that everyone has a core humanity and everything else is the world revolving around that. Shannon is a master at finding it.

These stories were intriguing and held my attention the whole time. I hope they’ll make more episodes.

Love Shannon’s honest interviewing style. He’ll ask questions that’ll be so real, I’ll be like “how the hell do you answer that, without telling your whole truth??” I can’t wait for more future episodes to focus on those in society we here from too little, the stories left out or awkward to tell. Those stories out of the world of privilege and into the world that needs sincere, honest telling of.

Love this host. He is genuine, his voice is fantastic to listen to, and he is a great interviewer. It’s clear people feel comfortable talking to him. I love this podcast because it takes a very interesting angle on the concept of trouble by discussing not only how we get into it but that all of us have trouble at one point in our lives and often we get into trouble even when we have the best intentions. I love how the host addresses how we deal with the trouble we’re in when we get there too. Can’t wait for more episodes. I tell everyone about this podcast!

I like feel good stories that make me smile and that increase my already positive outlook on life, but the world is not perfect and this podcast reflects that. We can learn from our mistakes and anyone listening to this insightful podcast can gain something. *Side note: the host’s voice is like butter he could read the dictionary for 30 minutes and I would still hit subscribe.

Shannon Cason is a wonderful storyteller. He makes the listener and, I would bet, the people being interviewed feel at home. His voice is also warm and understanding. Te most important thing about this podcast is that listeners get a chance to understand and not judge others. I am thankful for that, and we need more of this. It reminds me that every person you meet could be going through something tough.

I was always a huge fan of Shannon Kayson‘s Homemade Stories, so instantly subscribing to The Trouble was a no brainer. I’m delighted to have twice as much Shannon Cason in my podcast feed. This is a great addition to any podcast library, great interviews and intriguing situations, and still maintains the pleasure that is pure, classic Shannon Cason.

Spot on and consistently hitting doubles and triples. Shannon is an exceptional story teller/interviewer/and counselor. The cadence of his voice both puts you at ease and keeps you in the edge of eating more. Seems like just a genuine guy who brightens the world by shining light in what we generally consider to be darker places of the human psyche and condition. Very well done.

Several years ago I heard your stories on the Moth and loved them. Then I started listening to your homemade stories, and love them too. Now I am listening to the Trouble, and love it just as much. I haven’t really been in enough trouble to warrant me being a guest on your show, but I’ll see what I can do.... Oh no! Let me not even put that out into the universe, I’ll just remain an avid listener.

Must listen to this ep! The most recent episode, “79 cents,” gave me chills because I'm going through something similar with my employer. I’m nervous to broach the subject with my boss of equal pay, but now I’m so inspired by our rockin’ female mathematician! She’s also a mother, sole breadwinner, with a double masters. You go, girl! Never doubt that you are doing right for your girls and the rest of us.

Shannon is an excellent interviewer. Every episode’s topic is captured poignantly with grace and clarity.

Shannon is the most empathetic and lovely host. The OCD episode is among my favorite podcasts ever.

Everyone, everyone gets into a little trouble now and then. Some of us more than others. These stories detail how and why we get there and remind us that none of us are infallible.

I LOVED that first episode so much. Shannon’s vibe is love - his way of laughing at himself and the troubles of others is done in a way that still respects people instead of making them the butt of his joke. More, please. Great stories!
