Only Movie Podcast I’ve Stuck With
Justin and Will provide a wide variety of topics with great context to get into the more obscure works. A really inspiring podcast, encouraged me to challenge my tastes more and explore the vast cinematic canon. It’s also just nice to hear these guys talk, they’re not only very knowledgeable but are clearly passionate about cinema.

    MY FAVORITE PODCAST
i don’t even have to know what they’re talking about to enjoy

Everything you need in a movie podcast
I have found so many movies thanks to this podcast. Movies I had never heard of. Movies I had heard of but would have never given a chance to. I even found the Mahoning Drive-in because of them. Two guys from Toronto had to tell me I had a 35mm exclusive Drive-in an hour and fifteen minutes from me. They completely changed my love and appreciation for movies.

    The best
My favorite film podcast, insightful and entertaining in equal measure.

    Fantastic Podcast!
Easily the best movie-podcast available. From Poverty Row to the backyards of Massachusetts, with household names like Andrzej Zulawski and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, no genre or country is out of reach to discuss. And if one episode dedicated to the works of Jess Franco is not enough for you, then get ready to be happy.

    The only tolerable film podcast
What more can I say? There is only one ICC and I will back it to the hilt. Justin and Will are like brothers to me at this point and after listening to hundreds of episodes of their back catalog I feel more knowledgable about the arc of cinematic history than I ever imagined I could be. Their obsessive focus on the cinematic canon outside the mainstream is both a badge of honor and a pleasure to listen to in comparison to everyone talking about the same old stuff. Kudos and bravo!

    Good stuff
Knowledgeable yet casual; good hosts with great chemistry. Great format that allows for a lot of discovery as well as getting to hear informed opinions on stuff you love or hate

    What Weirdos
My favorite podcasts feel like hangouts, and once you get used to ICC, this place just feels like a place you go to chill once a week. A great time, with two very knowledgeable, self-proclaimed knuckleheads, who really love cinema.

    Horizons: expanded!
The first time I tried this podcast I didn’t like it. Came back a year later, something clicked. It may not click for you. That’s fine. But I credit Justin Decloux and Will Sloan (and their occasional guests) for expanding my horizons as a film fan. Where else will you get an exploration of the work of a forgotten 90s African filmmaker one week, and an in-depth analysis of Ernest P. Worrell the next? Nowhere. Give it a try! Give it two tries.

    The Best Movie Podcast
Great show that covers everything from Ernest comedies and Kevin Smith ephemera to the kind of stuff that unpaid Criterion Collection interns pretend to like. I’ve seen people call this show pretentious, but when you’ve seen an excessive volume of movies in a single lifetime you stop being impressed by certain filmmakers that are universally beloved. I don’t always agree 100% with their opinions, but that’s the magic of cinema baby.

    Listen to this podcast
Truly the best film podcast there has ever been. No other podcast would be capable of making me interested in the comedic stylings of Jim Varney.
  • fadingvibes
    The other two friends
Stewards of cinema Justin and Will avoid the pat takes. When they are not discussing filmmakers you have never heard of, they will often cover the “bad” movies of well known filmmakers. They read books so I guess that makes them smart or something.

Eisenstein is rolling in his grave
What has become of the state of film analysis? The hosts sound like hyperactive 14 year old boys. People should know how to cut together images before they can be qualified to talk about movies.

    Good
Strikes a good conversational tone with some interesting background information. Like a snippet of a commentary track. Not overly sophisticated nor overly simplified.

    Eclectic and insightful

I thought “Twitch of the Death Nerve Podcast” was the most pretentious listen, but these guys have that crew beat, hands down. I now also know where “Pure Cinema Podcast” plagiarized their name & why Quentin Tarantino has attached himself to PCP, his co-sign is a middle finger for all the constant jabs from these guys. Justin Decloux & Will Sloan assuredly know cinema. The two hosts weave in & out W/ subtitle reviews. One might opine on a film being awful, or an actor/director lacking in talent or execution. Then, about face & claim the subject at hand as one of their personal favorites. It’s hard to get a read on what movies might grace their media shelves. Granted, I am only on episode #31. I like to start from the very beginning. This is a very good Podcast, episode #1 was posted in 2015, so it is interesting hearing their opinions “Pre - Trump”. Albeit, these cats are Canadian, they assuredly make it known the U.S. casts a huge shadow. Podcasts are a great time capsule, before the world was so divisive. The two hosts will tiptoe around being offensive at all costs, unless it’s to berate someone they deem the other, listen to #28, the Steven Seagal episode. This will be an interesting journey to complete & listen to their growth or lack there of. Will Sloan is an accomplished journalist W/ plenty of great reads. If you find the time, look up his personal website. Will is the more weathered movie watcher, W/ an immense knowledge of so many genres. You would surmise he was an 80 year old man, W/ his “get off my lawn” persona & his constant jeers of “BOO” whenever his dogmatic views are challenged. One will never be confused of the hosts genders or race, as it’s touted in almost every episode, as an attempt to preempt any future backlash. I imagine them as wide eyed, manic, blue haired old codgers W/ horn rimmed glasses. Not unlike the old church lady’s from my youth that would exclaim “this is the work of the devil, & I’m not for this, but they have god to answer to”. But this is what I truly find entertaining about podcasts. I get an unfiltered glimpse into the minds of intelligent, talented individuals that wax poetic on the subjects that interest me. Justin Decloux is representative of The Peanut Gallery. He is always laughing, rowdy & constantly soliciting wills affirmation on the topics at hand. He is extremely well versed in all things cinema too. The both of them complement each other well as a duo. I anticipate around episode #150 , they will be announcing their engagement to one another. I am surprised that it has taken me so long to find this Podcast. I have been an avid listener of Podcasts since 2012. Also, searching far & wide for anything cinema related. These guys are no doubt pioneers W/ what they have covered. As mentioned above, Pure Cinema Podcast was what I found first, off the heels of Elric Kane being on Killer P.O.V. Podcast. No doubt Elric has listed to these guys & I can’t believe there’s not a Podcast feud (Ha). Again, I enjoy the podcast very much & keep up the great work guys!!

    Fun podcast
Interesting contrast listening here to another I like with gen x men. As someone from gen x, it’s fun to hear next gen takes on old faves or bombs. I wish they would cover more women, but I am a horror, oddity, and art house fan, and it’s comfort to listen to takes on fave genres, etc. Thanks for sharing, guys!

    Great, informative and casual show
I am almost done listening to the entire show and from the latest episode to the first I consistently love hearing these guys talk about and explore vast and varied swaths of film history. Be aware that some of these 1 star reviews are really off base. If you haven’t listened to the show some of the 1 star reviews make it sound like the show is hateful. Politics don’t often come up, but when they do it is clear the hosts are progressively liberal. If that’s not your bag, this show is probably not for you. If you are like me and love film and am progressive (or even just liberal) you will get a lot out of this show. Highly recommended!

    Yeah, I’ve had enough
Listened to the occasional (interesting sounding) episode over a few years and in that time the show’s hosts have gone from being mildly annoying to overwhelmingly irritating. The hosts talk too much trash to be respected, whether they’re laughing at people with personal problems or just behaving like the two average, lisping Millennial man-child snobs that they are.

    Take less adderall before recording
One of these hosts needs a little less energy on these episodes but the shows ok

    5/5 Bones!
Interesting perspectives on movies I have seen and tons of insight to offer on things I haven’t seen or even heard of. Lots of content here and the Patreon is also well worth the added episodes. This is one of Will Sloan’s two best movie podcasts. Thanks for the introduction to Gold Ninja Video. I’ve ordered all the Motern Media you offer and just ordered Teddy Bomb. Keep up the great work.

A film podcast that truly covers everything
Very fun and informative, great chemistry between the two hosts, and it covers every conceivable kind of film and filmmaker. Great stories about the film festival scene as well, and a desire on the part of the hosts to give listeners something they may not have heard of. The Patreon exclusive episodes are also excellent; if you enjoy a good descent into madness listen to their eps on Kevin Smith's post-Clerks II output. Definetly go into this knowing that this is not as granular as some of the more popular film podcasts, this is much quicker and more conversational.

If Will Sloan Tires You, What Will Justin Decloux
A must listen for all Shaun Costello fans

    Favorite podcast overall
This has become my favorite podcast over the years. Justin and Will tend to tackle films that are on the slightly or very lesser-known side (but with their fair share of popular directors/movies also), which is a good change of pace. Even if you have no interest in the particular director being discussed, it’s still interesting and entertaining to hear about them and might set you down a path of new discoveries. They cover contemporary film-world news to a light extent as well. There’s also a great expanded universe for the podcast with Patreon episodes, a Discord, a book-length journal, Gold Ninja Video Blu-Rays, etc.

    A Life-Changing Podcast
When I was a high school student, I absolutely loved movies. Whenever I had free time and five bucks to spare, I would run down to the local movie rental place and pick up whatever looked interesting. But after a spat of trying to be an adult, I fell out of love with cinema. I just didn’t feel I had time for it anymore, and whenever I did manage to sit down and watch a movie, I felt like I was wasting time. If this sounds like you, I’ve got five words of advice for you: The Important Cinema Club Podcast. It changed my life for the better, and it will change yours too, if only you give it a chance. These two fine fellas are doing God’s work, fighting for the importance of cinema in defiance of a world that seems to care less and less about movies.

Possibly the very best movie pod (and I have heard a lot of them)
Love these guys, they’ve brought so much positivity and knowledge of film into my life, thank you Justin and Will!!!

    Great movie podcast
Love the knowledge and energy from both of these guys. Very eclectic tastes will definitely lead any listener to discover new movies and genres. Three stooges forever.

    Ok
I enjoy the show’s brevity and it makes for good listening on my commute. I wish I could give it an extra star, but I’m a little burned out on the format. Will is always choice in his opinions, but everything from Justin is canned and predictable now. He has the energy of a small dog, and his enthusiasm is just so exhausting. The guy is way too giddy to express his bland and agreeable takes. Maybe I’m biased because he sounds a lot like my supervisor, and my stomach can only take so much of that to and from work.
  • Alex Sinesi
    Interesting Role Reversal
As I long time listener, I’ve really enjoyed Will Sloan’s gradual rediscovery of the magic of movies, a full about-face from his early ‘academic curmudgeon’ persona. The pod as a whole has been extremely informative and has pointed me toward several new favorite films and genres.

    The Best Film Podcast
    These guys know EVERYTHING.

    Wonderful
The hosts are good hype-masters for movies and filmmakers - just as an example, the broad swath of Hong Kong cinema they’ve covered. Their enthusiasm is infectious and possibly life-changing; you may find yourself gravitating towards the many, many hobby horses they bring up - a real constellation of oddball interests - whether it’s ill-fated comedy duos from the 1940s or a certain microbudget filmmaker from New England. The choice of subjects is far-ranging, and they will also answer any question you send them through email. I would not look here for especially cerebral or long conversations about movies; Justin and Will crash through the door, get the job done, then get out of there before they lose interest. Nonetheless, the hosts often revisit subjects, often through their Patreon episodes, so in a way the conversation’s never over.

You Won’t Know If You Don’t Try It
I had listened to so many movie podcasts before finding one that clicked with me. Even when I disagree with them, Important Cinema Club delivers. Is this your movie podcast? See above.
  • Cheet577
    Superficial Content
Each episode will cover a director, subgenre, etc in only about 15 minutes. This isn’t enough time to provide anything but the most superficial coverage. Not enjoyable if you have any familiarity with the topic of the episode as you will likely already know everything they have to say. The episodes are longer than 15 minutes, yes, and that is because the entire second half is devoted to answering mailed in questions or housekeeping.

Incredible knowledge, passion, respect, and dry wit about film. They throw out references to filmmakers and genres like nothing which is a rich avenue to explore.
