This podcast definitely fares better than similar shows due to a rotating cast of hosts and an assortment of content coverage.

Feels like hanging with my besties
Genuinely funny, thought-provoking, and super gay. The best Buffy rewatch podcast, by far. I love the assortment of hosts and how they each bring a unique perspective. Bringing all of the unique voices/perspectives together really elevates the discussion and analysis of this show. I’m enjoying the Angel coverage now, too!

    Love this show!
Such a fun show! Love all the hosts and their unique perspectives. Also love how many different episodes there are on all things pop culture/nerd-dom and how long the episodes are! Thank you for sharing your stories and perspectives with the world Ian & Friends!

    My favorite Buffy podcast
….and I’ve tried quite a few. Such great insights and they are hilarious, to boot!

I adore all of the Cordy love
I recently started listening on a regular basis to the Angel the series rewatch part of the podcast and I absolutely love it. Cordy is probably my favorite character in the Buffyverse, only tied with Buffy herself, so hearing how much each of the hosts adores her makes my heart happy. I put on an episode when I need cheering up since I know this podcast will achieve that in no time. I’m excited to revisit this series through different points of view!

    Love this podcast
Another very queer Buffy podcast! My heart is so full right now♥️. All insights shared about the show are great on this pod. I like that it doesn't just start from the beginning and doesn't just go in chronological order when they talk about episodes but jumps around. Always excited to find out which episodes and buffy trivia they're going to incorporate into their discussions.

    Great podcast to follow
It’s great finding a podcast that checks off so many of my interests. Came to this podcast for the Buffy content but staying for the MCU and comics related content. Plus you get the extra bonus of horror related content. Ian does a great job of getting interesting guests to give you firsthand info about the show!! Love the queer lenses as well. Give it a listen and follow!!

    So good!
I have been listening for a while and my favorite thing about Slayerfest98 is the variety. There are different hosts, different types of media discussed, and even movies with the My Bloody Judy specials. I can’t recommend it enough- it feels like listening to your friends talk about something you love.

    So Consistently Good!
I have been listening to this podcast since season 2 and I just want to give a shout out to how consistently great it’s been. As a listener of every Buffy pod I can find this is the one that has continued to get better and better. It doesn’t fall into traps of it’s own fan service or gimmicks but just stays really true to itself. I love Ian and Zach and all the new guests they have every week keeps the perspectives really sharp and fresh. Bringing joy to my life right now, thank you!

Such an amazing podcast. I have never been disappointed by a single episode. Ian is an amazing host and his guests are always top notch.

    Pop Culture Pod for All
This podcast is different from other rewatch podcasts in that it mixes in discussions on other media. It makes the podcast last longer, and you get to hear all of the Buffy parallels, references, or vibes they pick up on in other shows/movies. Plus there’s always a rotation of guest hosts to keep things fresh and interesting. Highly recommend checking this one out!

    Buffy + Beyond 👢📝⚡️
Long overdue review for excellent podcast. Came for Buffy ages ago and quickly found it to be the most humorous, insightful, analytical, and delightful Buffy pod around. I frequently resisten to episodes just for the ride. My pop culture nerdiness pretty much begins and ends with Buffy, and I give zero Fs about the MCU or other featured franchises, but I have been listening consistently since the topical shift because Ian and his guests and their thoughtful yet silly and irreverent commentary are so much fun to listen to regardless of subject matter. Definitely a safe, happy place for me, while still being intellectually stimulating and thought provoking. Thank you Ian! ✨✨✨

    Not like any other Podcast
Great, funny hosts. Wide range of guests that were actually a part of the show or are mega fans. A joy to listen to.

    Love this podcast
Queer podcast that loves its subjects as much as you do. Everyone has such fun and I’ve been introduced to such a wide array of diverse and fantastic voices

    Absolutely Incredible!
I discovered this podcast earlier last summer and absolutely went all the way back to the beginning, instantly hooked. Ian is SO nice and sweet and all the guests really give the sense that they’re genuinely there to have fun and are having a good time. Some episodes you’re completely floored when someone like Clare Kramer or James Marsters appears to chat and provides just some really great insight into what was happening behind the scenes. I’ve been loving the expansion into other shows like WandaVision, X-Men, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the Magicians lately. Honestly it just feels like the nicest group of friends talking about things they love and Ian runs such a great Twitter/Instagram too that always has me laughing. I think there’s just so much effort and heart that goes into every episode that I can’t help but smile. Hope to see this keep going for a long time. :)

My favorite podcast to listen to ✨
Ian and his wonderfully assembled ensemble of co-hosts make for a really fun and enjoyable podcast that I love listening to whether they’re covering Buffy, WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Invincible, horror movies etc. The amount of special guests is spectacular. Shoutout to My Bloody Judy bc that’s also a fave of mine. Subscribe to the patreon. It’s worth it.

    So much more
I love Slayerfest98 so much. It’s much more than a Buffy podcast. Between all the other shows and movies Ian and co. cover with women and POC. It is amazing following this queer Latinx king cover the things he loves. I wish I could give it 10 stars

    Where’s Buffy?
I’ve enjoyed your show so much, but now you seem to have lost interest so near the end. Will you ever do another ACTUAL Buffy episode again. So disappointed

Super queer, super quirky, super sweet podcast
I’m trying to savor Buffy and listen to this podcast for recaps as I watch the show for the first time. While the podcast isn’t necessarily designed for that (i.e., you will hear spoilers) it has been a delight during these dark times. I might go so far to say this is my favorite ~queer~ podcast. Thank you to everyone who makes and contributes to the show 💜

Love the podcast but Dax constantly shifting the conversation back to herself and interrupting the guest is hard to listen to.

    So grateful for this podcast
I just rewatched the series and have been having some really really intense feelings about Buffy, especially in its darker last two seasons, and I haven’t known how to process them until I started listening to this podcast. The hosts are so smart and offer such witty, intelligent, critical analysis and it’s offered me a pathway to give my own analysis to the show and to safely obsess without feeling like a freak for letting the show be an obsession. Thank you and can’t wait for episodes about season 7!

    It stopped being about Buffy
I was a huge fan of Slayerfest 98 - listening to it felt like being in on a conversation with close friends about my favorite show! I didn’t even bother with other Buffy podcasts that have popped up, because Ian Carlos Crawford & Co are warm, insightful, and hilarious. I’ve gotten really tired though of half the episodes not being about Buffy anymore, but a bunch of other fandoms and shows - lately, a lot of X-men. I get it, there are a limited about of Buffy episodes to talk about, but I hate getting excited to see a new Slayerfest episode in my podcast feed only to see it’s about X-men. Ian, I still love you but just start a different podcast maybe?

    Fun, fabulous frivolity
I’ve been listening from the beginning because I need a good distraction from my regular news podcasts. I heard Ian on Buffering the Vampire Slayer and I’m so glad I checked out Slayerfest. Ian and Mathew host hysterical, thoughtful conversations that don’t take themselves too seriously. I love their dynamic, Ian channels the teenager within me who grew up with Buffy as a part of my identity and is so emotionally involved in the show. Mathew keeps us grounded and the conversation moving! First I listened to all the cast & writer interviews, then I went through and listened to all the episodes in order including the interviews again because they are just that good. The Beer Bad episode is so hysterical, I think I hurt myself laughing. Love this podcast. Thanks for keeping the Buffy conversation going.

    What?
I just listened to episode 99 and I’m so glad I did! In all honesty I only listened to this podcast because I’m a huge fan of Buffering and you have my girl Jenny on this episode. Now I have to listen to them all!! I can’t get enough Buffy. ❤️
  • wendgo
    Amazing guests
Ian hosts a fun Buffy recap podcast with the perfect blend of humor and critical analysis. I love especially how the writers’ perspective is highlighted throughout the episodes but doesn’t take itself too seriously to have fun.

Love it! Queer, Fun, Engaged (sometimes there are tangents)
Fun, queer, critical Buffy Podcast! Loving it and looking forward to more. As a fan of some other Buffy pods, I'll say that this one is great because it digs into longer arcs and character storyllines because it is NOT spoiler-free. Sometimes this can lead to some tangents, granted, but it has really helped me appreciate some storylines (like Anya's humanity, mortality, and what it means to be human) in much deeper and more thoughtful ways. The episode quality can often depend on guests, (for example I become ENRAGED when male guests constantly interrupt/talk over female guests-- not cool), but almost every episode leaves me loving the pod and Buffy more!

    Superficial Commentary
I tried several episodes of this podcast, hoping it would get better, but it never did. The commentary is always superficial, ignoring analysis of the themes and complexities of the storytelling. For example, they praised Go Fish for some reason and all expressed dislike for I Only Have Eyes for You while never discussing and unpacking the ways in which the episode deals with the idea of forgiveness and self-blame through the story, characters, and magical metaphor. And when they don’t care for an episode or do in fact like it, it feels as though the opinions are all rather superficially based with the hosts unable to specifically articulate why they find an episode good or bad. Their criteria for review is unclear, and honestly, the sound quality of the recordings are rather poor. It’s a bummer because there are seemingly many people who enjoy this one, but I recommend people to check our Still Pretty and Buffering where the quality of analysis is richer and there’s a lot more fun to be had with the chemistry of those hosts.

    Best Buffy podcast ever
I love this podcast. I have listened to every Buffy podcast out there and this is by far the best. It is my Buffy home.
  • SchwiftyNos
    Inarticulate mess
It's just an hour (or more) of rambling, people talking over each other, and saying "like, um, you know."
  • Mikey Eighty Nine
    Good stuff!
Joe Reid and Anthony Oliveira are consistently great guests.

These Queer Scoobies are my fav Scoobies
I burned through S1-5.5 of this podcast in two weeks. Why? Because the hosts are funny, they know their stuff, they have amazing guest hosts, & they call it like it is! I honesty feel like I’m sitting with friends when I sit & listen to them! 💚

    Go easy on Xander.
I almost stopped listening because of the Xander bashing, the hosts are very anti-Xander, and I understand some of the issues. Xander is problematic in a lot of ways, but he's also interesting and funny, and most of all he's real, and gets a lot better starting season 4. So the constant bashing got very tiring, and unfair. Plus they only seem to have guests who hate Xander as well, and I know for a fact that is not representative of the fandom. But I'm glad I didn't stop because Ian and Matthew are funny and interesting hosts, just like a lot of their guests. I love seeing the show from that queer perspective, and I like that it feels like a fresh look on a classic show, and it is unlike any other Buffy podcast. The pace of it is also very good, I'm almost never bored. Keep it up, but please go easy on Xander.

A podcast that discusses instead of just recapping?! GASP.
This podcast is meeting my unmet needs for rigorous analysis of Buffy episodes. Yes please more.

    ♥️
This is the best Buffy podcast! It’s as if you’re sitting around discussing Buffy with your best friends like some kinda queer slayer bible study. I love it so much! The hosts are so fantastic with their insights and knowledge and their guests are wonderful additions to this Scooby Duo. -Edward

    Delightful podcast <3
Ian and Mathew clearly love Buffy, and it's a joy to hear them discuss each episode. I find myself looking forward to Tuesdays now when the new episodes are released. Check them out! You'll have a blast listening to them every week. Keep it up, guys!
  • Bespangeled
    You are awesome.
This podcast is the geekiest, funniest podcast ever. It's great because there are no newbies, so there are no worries about spoilers. It is pure hilarious Buffy geekfest - no holds barred and definitely adult - with a lot of BTVS love.

    Great podcast
Love the whole crew especially Ian. Keep it up guys 😊

    Not Jealous
Smart, cute, funny, (mostly) gay boys talk about the life altering impact of Buffy... and its academic to boot. 5 x 5.

    My favorite podcast
I get excited every week when a new episode of Slayerfest98 gets uploaded. The conversation is insightful but also feels like I’m hanging out with my nerdy queer friends who love Buffy. Mathew and Ian and their guests have smart things to say about one of my favorite TV shows and they make me laugh on the regular. I honestly could listen to another hour of content every week.
