    Bari advice for all stages
This has become my go-to podcast. Dr Susan and her expert guests know the facts about bariatric surgery and the journey to success. Everything you could want to know is covered and they do it in a friendly and engaging way. It’s a great add-on to your own dietician’s advice.

    Best companion
Baratric Surgery Success became my best companion since I had my surgery on 7/1/24. The information is clear and base on medical research. I enjoy when I am called to stop multitasking, and to pay extra attention to the most important information in each Episode. I am so glad I found you, and I am looking forward to continue my learning during this new baratric journey. With you. Ayleen Ford, California

Excellent Podcast Backed with Scientific Facts
Bariatric Surgery Success with Dietitian Dr. Susan Mitchell The reason I listen to Dr. Mitchell’s podcast is because I want to use my new bariatric tool in the best way possible and she helps me with that. Her content is very relevant to the bariatric lifestyle and she backs up her information and content with science based facts. I know when I want the right answer to something that I can look to her for the scientific facts. When I see a health trend on Tik Tok, I know I can ask her about it and she will give me the true facts. Her content is well researched and insightful with relevant facts and anecdotes. She offers a well balanced viewpoint sharing both strengths and weaknesses as well as current trends and issues in the bariatric lifestyle. Her podcast stands out as a jewel among the various other bariatric podcasts.

    Focus on the SCIENCE
I’m so glad I finally found Susan Mitchell’s podcast!! It’s so unlike so many others which sound more like a group of friends getting together to compare notes and chat. While everybody who has gone through bariatric surgery may have some very useful advice on how to get through the process, when it comes to nutrition few of us know what science says we should eat. Enter Susan and friends! While a registered dietitian with a wealth of knowledge herself, Susan frequently brings in two of her professional dietitian colleagues who also work with bariatric patients to provide other insights on various issues. Because they all follow the science, the advice of each is very similar and insightful. A recent podcast that Susan did focused on protein bars and how to choose a “real” protein bar from what might be advertised as a “protein”’bar but in reality doesn’t measure up. I discovered the bars I had been eating were mostly everything but protein comparatively. No wonder they didn’t satisfy my appetite!! That particular podcast led me to reconsider a recent decision I had made to contact a non-bariatric “nutrition specialist” with a popular blog online to adjust my macros. Without going into detail, let me just say her recommendations were absurd. I did try them for about ten days and ended up with a gastrointestinal upset for two days. It was then that I realized how easily I can be misled, and decided I needed a professional. But how to find one? I decided to write Susan. She responded quickly and with her help I found an excellent registered dietitian who has put me on the right track. Do yourself a favor. Stick with the science when it comes to nutrition. While protein is important, so are healthy carbs, especially 3 years after surgery. Carbs are not our enemy, unless we ingest them through candy, cookies and chips. My best recommendation is to follow your bariatric clinic’s guidance as you lose your weight. Supplement it with science-based information. As you wean off your regular clinic visits, consider finding a program that is sustainable to keep the weight off. Susan’s podcast is an excellent choice.

    Right on Time
I just had Bariatric Surgery 8 days ago. I was preparing to go into Walmart to pick up a few things and decided to play this podcast. I decided to listen to the episode called Shift from Talking to walking the walk after WLS….MAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!! This podcast was just what I needed to hear. It was confirmation for the things I’ve been mulling over in my heart and mind and I’m inspired and will IMMERSE myself in the bariatric lifestyle. I’m not gonna let this tool go to waste. I’m willing and I’m ready!!! 2024 here I come!!!!

    Informative information
Dr Susan Mitchell, your information is always on point and your scientific proof is invaluable when we are bombarded with “proof “everyday . The no nonsense answers Dr. Connie Stapleton gives are also invaluable. The two of you together are a commanding force of positive reinforcement of we can do it, I CAN DO IT. Thank you both for helping me on my new journey of self love and healthy eating.

This podcast is a must have for bariatric surgery patients
I had VSG in Mexico 8/3/21. They did the surgery and that was about it. I had no aftercare or follow up. I wanted to be successful with my tool, so I started looking for podcasts. This one has by far been the most helpful. I am more than 7mo postop now and between preop and now am down about 137 pounds and still losing. Thank you for all of your help and insight. I attribute so much of my success to the encouragement, support, accountability and teaching that you have provided through this podcast. VSG 8/3/21 5’2” HW 290 SW 238 CW 152.6 GW ???

    Great Insights on Bariatric Surgery
As a longtime registered dietitian nutritionist, it's been a quite a while since I've worked with clients one-on-one and with weight loss. So I was happy to find this podcast series to give me a quick update on a variety bariatric surgery “before and after” topics as this surgery has become more popular over the last decade or so. Great guests, both experts and people who’ve had the surgery, are not only knowledgeable but also engaging and interesting.
