Main Street ModernBest podcast everIf you’re involved in any part of the home design industry—whether it’s design, furniture, sales, or HomeGoods—this podcast is a must-listen. I’ve gone through nearly every episode and have learned so much. I often find myself taking notes because the insights are invaluable. It’s amazing to hear from so many industry insiders, and even when an episode doesn’t directly apply to my business, I can always take something from it to piece together new ideas. I’m so glad this podcast exists—it’s been an incredible resource!

Glacier1975RuggableJust a huge crock. I own a few. She is flighty and so are the rugs. Lousy interview probably to spread the word on her rugs. But. Not accurate on quality.
-
ydottdotInsightfulFascinating even for a non-interior designer. Excellent balance of news the forces that move a very specific part of economy and culture and fascinating interviews with designers and architects. Rizzoli should give this podcast an sponsorship. I’ve purchased several of their books to learn more about the topics discussed on the Business of Home.

BengrieveFantastic showA must listen every week, especially the Thursday show. Playful but educated analysis of industry trends and fantastic interviews with insiders.

hflevineMy fav podcast!I’m a total BOH podcast devotee. Highly recommend for anyone in the home decor industry, and beyond. It’s such a fantastic balance of “business” and “home,” and the interviews are always interesting and worthwhile.
-
LMKbruhWebsite will sufficeThey basically just read the website articles. It feels like outsiders talking about the business. The interviews consist of them fawning over very wealthy people who offer advice like “live beautifully!“ seems like it’s more about them looking for future personal business opportunities

cmiddenDelightfully Informative!I’m new to this podcast after finishing a one-year subscription to the BOH magazine, and I have never been more excited about a podcast related to my field in textiles! Dennis Scully and the team on the BOH podcast offer insightful and informative interviews as well as interesting takes on news around the design industry. I was in the architecture industry over 20 years ago and am now back in it and this is the best podcast centered around topics that really interest me. Thanks for all the work that goes into this special podcast every few weeks!

@lesliecThe best podcast for news about the interior design industryI’m a regular listener to Dennis & Fred’s Business of Home podcast and always glean a very useful nugget of information [ or several ] every time I listen to them. Kristen RivoliMust listen to podcastBusiness of Home podcast is my go to every week to stay on the pulse of our industry. Dennis is such a gentleman and brilliant interviewer, his conversations just flow and he’s very nimble at switching gears. I always highly recommend this podcast if anyone asks me what I listen to.
-
McsorKelLove this showDennis interviews incredible minds within the design community and shares valuable, interesting, and hilarious takeaways with us each week. I look forward to listening and constantly share episodes with friends and family.

DesignSleuthHow lucky is the design industry to have Dennis Scully as its voice?I’ve never had the chance to meet him but listening to him every week for years I feel as though I know him. I just can’t think of anyone else who can dive into these business conversations like the one he did with Room & Board and then the next week have a charming conversation with Beata. Heuman. He must have a financial background as his deep dives into RH’s earnings and share price movements are the smartest analysis I’ve heard. It’s just a great show and seems to be getting better all the time. The industry owes Dennis a debt. I hope he is well paid!
-
Mosha LHConstructive criticismGreat guests, pretentious faux-British host. Dennis needs to shorten his questions significantly and stop talking down to his guests with these “let’s tell the listeners” pre-ambles. The fake laughter and accent are also a distraction. It’s one thing to speak eloquently, but this comes across as phony.
-
mmkkzzxWokeThe designers are great. But it’s unbelievable how woke the hosts are, and when they try to talk about the economy, and politics and global warming, they sound unbelievably gilded and foolish. And lately they can’t stop
-
ColoradoLauraInformativeGreat podcast for designers - love the Thursday show too.
-

Tessa PinnerApplicable for Designers of all stripesThis podcast is wonderful. As a garden designer on a creative team working on high end residential projects, I have found so much inspiration and business wisdom that applies to what we do. It is a window into the wider conversations about home design and business that also affect private gardens.

twenty2 wallpaper + textilesInvaluable Resource! We are so grateful for BoH! It feels meaningful to have a podcast that is so focused on our industry and we truly learn something with every episode - about our peers, our customers and even ourselves. Dennis is endlessly charming and gracious, yet isn’t afraid to pose the probing questions that we all want answered. Thank you to the entire BoH team for being thought leaders in our niche industry. 🙌🏼🙏🏼

SMC006605More Thursday Shows! The new Thursday show is the missing link I didn’t know I needed. It’s like my “above the fold” news. Honestly, I’d listen to more if there was a BOH version of The Daily.

GrinsNLaughterMaster Class for DesignersOf all the ID podcasts I’ve tried this has remained on my must listen list. Dennis’s interview style and the guests he brings on provides an intimate look at Best In Class businesses. Subscribe, you’ll be glad you did.

AmandaIDThe BESTHands down the BEST interior design podcast out there. Dennis has awesome guests and gives listeners an inside look on what the industry is truly like. We don’t just pick pillows and paint people! Every time I listen to it, it relights that spark in me that made me want to become a designer in the first place. Thank you so much for creating this podcast!!!

barbc7654Dennis and Amber LewisFun interview! Amber is such a down to earth gal, I enjoyed listening to her business side of things. To boot she works while having MS and shares the importance of delegating to a staff who is supportive of her. Lovely!
-
Erik - PNW Rep!Industry insight and inspirationI love the diversity of guests… from retailers to manufacturers…. Interior designers to trade-representatives. BOH and the BOH Podcast reveal a much larger industry and how connected we all are. It’s inspiring to see all the talent and that there are so many avenues to be creative in the home industry. I make sure that all my clients (designers) know about BOH!

carole, missouriLove this Podcast!I love listening to Dennis Scully dive deep with designers, manufacturers, and business leaders. It’s entertaining and enlightening every time! I love the range of people that I get insight from.

TisburyBest of Interior Design Industry PodcastsHosted by Dennis Scully who asks the intelligent, forward thinking and thought-provoking questions that the entire industry grapples with, The Business of Home podcast is simply the first show that should be on the list that designers, vendors and the curious listen to weekly. He’s always one step ahead, and the audience is pretty much guaranteed “aha” moments in every episode. On top of that, Scully adds humor and a light touch that keeps the conversation from getting stale and continually opens doors. Listen on!
-
COCOCO Home KathrynRelevant and energizing!!!Fantastic podcast! I just finished listening to Grant Trick’s episode and the conversation was educational and inspirational. I help to manage a custom furniture manufacturing factory, therefore I deeply relate to Mr. Trick’s supply chain issues and vendor challenges. Dennis is a fantastic interviewer, leading the conversation along with natural journalistic abilities. I can’t wait to stream all of the episodes as I drive to and from Claremont North Carolina.

WRH StuffEnjoyable!During this pandemic, I have become an avid listener because the content is spot on and Dennis is an excellent host! I know they are interviews but at times it can get like I am eavesdropping on a really fun conversation with folks who know just what they are talking about. Rare but welcomed. Keep up the good work!

C_McGovA NPR style podcast for design industry!Insightful podcast on the broader design industry. Dennis is an excellent host and interviewer. He’s up there with Terri Gross of NPR (high praise in my book!), in terms of his research, thoughtful questions and ability to get his guests talking. I particularly enjoy the variety of guests, which represent multiple facets of the industry - from executives of vendors and retailers to storied designers. As the name of the publication / podcast imply, listeners not only receive a personal / professional background of the guests but also an in-depth view on their business, its history, current challenges, business strategy and new ventures. As a former finance professional turned interior designer (McGovern Project), it helps me to get a broader perspective on the overall industry - changing business models, industry headwinds/tailwinds, and operational challenges. It’s also helpful to hear guest’s view on the broader market segmentation of key players. (Dennis I’m sure would admit he might be slightly obsessed with RH or at least his guests view on their disruption to the industry and rightfully so as it often leads to insightful commentary on the balance of good design / quality / price. First time listener? My favorite interviews to date include: Vendors: Sunbrella, Schumacher Designers: Gauchot Studios, Dan Rak (another career switcher!), Novogratz Industry: Kaitlin Peterson (Editor in Chief, BoH)

jennyakaniniThis show is topsInspo, thoughts, community and the best in the biz being interviewed by a true talent and wordsmith? Yes, please. Only wish there were more episodes, but waiting each week for the new one to drop is part of the anticipatory fun. Thank you Dennis!

CaitlinvicLove, love, love!I am a design student and I just looove this podcast. Dennis Scully is such a great host. He always sounds so charming, genuinely curious and interested in his guests. I find the insights into the working world of design fascinating and love all the unusual stories and tidbits he gets. Huge fan and only wish I had more time to listen to more!
-
Ride76Worth a listen!Dennis is a true professional. He comfortably leads guests through the interview process and keeps the audience hooked and wondering what the next question will be. I work in healthcare and have learned so much about the design profession. Thank you Dennis for a fascinating look at the inside of this industry!
-
esk0005This American Life with Ira Glass meets AD!Has this parallel already been drawn a hundred times? I really do mix their voices up in my head sometimes when I read anything they write… Really because - While the episodes keep you informed about the industry and the evolving design landscape, they are thought provoking stories about actual human beings. Also is there anything better than an enthusiastic, charming, well informed host? If you don’t listen for the literary journalism - do it for the knowledge. You’ll stop having to fake nod to your boss and Google later as much. Inspiring. Reminds me why I love design. Dennis Scully possesses the curiosity & enthusiasm that the world is in far too short supply of. Love!

Fabulous DesignerBritish accentHost Dennis Scully must be an actor. I know he’s American but he speaks with such a lovely contrived British accent...Well done!
-
JbmacmanInclude company names in episode titlesPlease include the interviewee’s company name in the episode title—makes it very difficult to search through episodes. “How I Built This” does it right.
-
