    Love the pod!
I love listening to this podcast because y’all talk about so many of the same things from my life too and love hearing your takes on it all! Going to another volleyball tournament this weekend (3 hours away at the beach) and ready to listen to another episode. Thanks so much!

    Love it!
I’m sitting here listening to the pod with my 6-year-old next to me playing, and I don’t have to worry about anything inappropriate or weird coming up. Thank you for keeping it clean, funny, and genuinely enjoyable. It’s a bright spot in my week!!

While the latest wasn’t my first, I hopped on after the Nateland Podcast sent me over here. Love the mix between comedy, parenting, and just a good time! Thanks for the podcast and keep it up. PS chili in the van is a wild time. I’m not sure I’m on board.

    Love!
Was hoping to win the 1K prize but love them enough to give 5 stars without it. One of the only pods I listen to as soon as it comes out. Came for Dustin’s comedy but stayed for Mel’s being Mel.

    This podcast sparks joy!
I discovered “Don’t Make Me Come Back There” after their crossover episode with the Nateland podcast last summer, and it has become my favorite weekly listen! I love this show for the same reasons I love Bluey — both illustrate the highs & lows of family life in a light-hearted & playful way that makes parents feel seen and keeps drawing us back to the joy & wonder that accompany the challenges of parenthood. Thank you so much for being who you are, Dustin & Melissa! ❤️

    Love them
Sometimes silly, occasionally heartfelt, once in a while informative, always funny.

    Relatable, easy listen, FUNNY
The show is funny, unlike this comment. It’s okay though, Melissa said “it doesn’t have to be funny.” I think she was referring to the apples reviews and not just talking to Dustin. PS 999th review PLEASE don’t send me coffee!

It’s like my thoughts being read aloud by someone else
Listening to this podcast feels like someone hacked my brain and turned my inner thoughts into a hilarious family podcast. 5 stars for making me feel seen… and slightly called out.

    Hoping to be 1,000
First time reviewing long time listener of the pod, and highly motivated by caffeine. Instant coffee always has a place in my busy parenting heart - all of those different ones you tested are way fancier than the very cheap knock off brand that lives in my pantry as my backup for when we absolutely will forget to buy more coffee, I’m jealous, and if I’m not lucky 1,000 I’m still going to go on a hunt and try the spikes :) PS- Japan has fantastic instant coffee everywhere- highly recommend

    Love the podcast!
I love this podcast! Started listening because of Nateland but now I tune in weekly and I’m never disappointed! So funny! I also played volleyball when I was younger so the tournament experiences are far too relatable. Hoping this is review #1000, my family and I go camping quite often and always use instant coffee!

Go to for parent on the go!
Dad of 2, love this podcast. Lately the series about different sports has really been hitting the spot (even more so than a terrible cup of tournament coffee). Thanks you guys, please keep it up!

Seamlessly incorporating relatable anecdotes from parenthood, marriage, and life on the road, “Don’t Make Me Come Back There” is the solution to any day in which you find yourself mired in the hum-drum day-to-day realities of life. Take a break from your own problems, and tune in as this happily married couple unabashedly delves into the goings on in their lives, while never losing the ability to laugh at any situation. Any comedy fan who has even a modicum of time to listen will be well served, finding themselves chuckling at Dustin’s sometimes inane, sometimes poignant tangents and commentary, while Melissa tries to continue steering the ship to its destination.

    Almost 1000 reviews!!!
I’m not number 1K but I love this podcast. As a parent to young children, this podcast provides a fun and interesting view into a possible future. Good clean humor about parenting, life and everything else.

    Incredible!
I started listening to the podcast when they joined the Nateland network. It has become a weekly staple. I look forward to Thursday mornings to get to my desk and laugh out loud.

Fun look into what I have ahead of me as a parent in a funny way
I love that is family friendly, and light hearted. It’s very real talk, and very funny and casual. I enjoy getting a look inside the stand up comedy world, but in a relatable way.

Like Finding a $20 In Your Coat
You know that feeling when you're putting on a jacket you haven't worn for months and your fingertips graze a piece of paper in the pocket, and you fully expect to pull out an old target receipt but instead find a twenty? Dustin and Mel are like that, but instead of once or twice a year every Thursday! After an hour of nudges, prods, cajoling, and threats to get my kiddo out the door to school, I sit at my desk with a coffee and- oh yeah! Don't Make Me Come Back There is available! It's funny, sincere and a lovely way to restart my day on a much brighter note! Said kiddo thought it would be awesome if I was review 1k but my timing isn't particularly great in general. BUT congrats on the milestone!!!

    Favorite Pod
    999. We’ll see who gets to be lucky 1,000. One of my absolute favorite pods! Found this and Dustin though the Nateland network and so glad I did. I love listening to your parenting triumphs and tragedies. I have 4 of my own and just try desperately to not let this time go by without appreciating it all. Thanks for the content! Can’t wait to see you in person next time you come Michigan or Indiana.

I have a 6 month old who has only slept through the night once
Please let me be comment 1000 - I need the instant coffee. You have been my middle of the night friends in my AirPods while I feed my little gal who is 6 months old and only slept through the night once. My older sister’s name is Melissa and that’s such a specific time period name that I know we lived similar lives. Please keep making podcasts (and offering free coffee) until all my children sleep through the night at minimum - continuing after that would be acceptable also.

    999?
This might be rating number 1,000 or 999. We’ll see. Great podcast for this 22-year-old grad student to listen to every Thursday morning in the gym. Dustin, next time you come to Blue Room I’ll tell you all about the Ozark Coffee trail.

    Love this show!
Dusty and Melissa are polar opposites and it makes for an interesting discussion. Love the podcast and the laughs.

    Always a fun listen
Great show. I was going to expand on that, but I’m way too far under my head with life right now.

    Desperate
Oh man - I can’t believe that a Dad of daughters would want to promote John Crist but anything for the views or downloads I guess. That guy is either sexually harassing women or making fun of them so either way, if this is who you promote, I’m out.

    The best!
This podcast never fails to make my day and make me smile every week! As someone who grew up in San Diego and later moved to Seattle it feels like this podcast was crafted just for me. I love getting an insider’s perspective to the PNW and hearing what new coffee shops to check out in La Mesa when I visit home! I’d just say that you should give your teenager some slack, being a cool skater bro who sleeps all day is tougher than it looks and we mostly turn out ok! Would love a deep dive into where I could get some fruity/fun/happy/walk-on-the-beach coffee like in SD instead of the dark/mean/bitter coffee I’ve found in Seattle? A great pod for anyone who has kids, wants to have kids, doesn’t want to have kids, or once was a kid Also, love the new ad format because I get told to check out Emerald Queen Casino and then repent of it at a church in Kirkland in back to back ads

    Perfectly relatable!
I really enjoy listening to Dustin and Melissa each week. I first heard Dustin in Springfield when he was with Nate Bargatze and was excited to learn he had a podcast as well! So funny and totally relatable as parents! I’m loving the hot takes on the holidays!

    Dad Bod
Saw Dustin in Tulsa; true dad bod. Dustin is so relatable and will keep you laughing regardless of being at a comedy show after 7pm and, really, it's time to go to bed. If you're mid-aged and have a snacking problem, you'll appreciate him.

    Answer for Mel
Great show! I’m new to the backseat by way of Nateland. I wanted to share an option for Mel’s white elephant/secret Santa predicament. A lot of lady groups in my area are doing a “favorite thing” party. You set a price limit and ask each participant to bring one of their favorite things. Before the game starts they have to explain what it is and why it’s their favorite. Then you draw numbers and the girls get to pick in order. Sometimes there is a prize for the person that brought the top gift. I hope this helps. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! As a parent of teenagers you give me hope that we all might make it till the new year!

Come for funny, stay for the family
I would give this 4 stars if they stop interrupting each other #marriedlife

    Overall Great Pod
The more I listen, the more I like. If you’re looking for an episode to check out, Mini Van vs. SUV is a favorite of mine.

You give me all the laughs
I’ve been listening to this podcast since I saw Dustin open for John Crest in Davenport, Iowa in 2019. The show was great then but now…….all the better. I was not a big Steven fan, so I’m glad that ended….otherwise yo’d not be getting five stars. Mel’s just the best. This podcast is a great listen while I do my graphic design job and it one of 2 podcasts that can entertain me enough while I run and not make me realize what I’m doing. It’s what I recommend to everyone when podcast suggestions are wanted. Y’all are the best. Can you interview your kids? Or your dad? Can that be an episode? Love the kids/dad stories always. Keep coming to Iowa.

    Let her finish a sentence!
I tried to listen to this episode because it sounded interesting. I couldn’t even get 10 minutes in because he kept interrupting her! It was so annoying and hard to listen to. She is the one with the experience as a military child and yet he was the one speaking 99% of the time. Stop interrupting and let others finish even just one sentence!

    Comedy + millennial parenting anecdotes
New to the back seat and so far this ride has been awesome! Listening to other millennial parents trying to navigate this crazy world, all while keeping our little humans alive, is refreshing! They don’t pretend to be perfect or tell their listeners how to raise their kids, but instead share relatable family stories with a sprinkle of comedy. Dustin please keep the goal of making Melissa laugh everyday especially on the pod, it makes me smile and the moment even funnier. #bestlaughever

    A Must Listen
If you have kids, this is a must listen pod. Even if you don’t have kids, you should still listen. Dustin and Mel make a great team and tell it like it is - Andy’s occasional chime ins are great too. My new favorite pod, keep the laughs coming.
  • Fire/EMS29
    Funny, relatable
Going to give it five stars when Dustin quits interrupting Mel lol

    Great pod! - honest feedback
Recent subscriber. Love the pod. Funny, relatable. highly recommend But - Not a fan of the Mel being interrupted so much. She handles it well. Maybe she doesn’t notice or mind it? Just something that I notice a decent amount in almost every episode.

    The Most Good Podcast
“Don’t Make Me Come Back There” isn’t just a good podcast about marriage, family, and all the ups and downs that happen in the midst of all that - it’s the MOST good podcast out there about all that. Do your soul a favor and tune in…laughter? Check! Tears? Check! Raw honesty? Check! Listening to the podcast you might forget you’re not actually sitting around with good friends sharing life together because you’re actually more likely sitting folding laundry or cooking dinner while enjoying the company of what feels like old friends. Thank you Nickerson’s and family for all you do…this podcast is a always a highlight each week; a source of encouragement and a place I can come to knowing there are others walking in very similar shoes as mine as we all navigate this journey together. 😉
