Great podcast for understanding world events from people’s, not states’ or businesses’, perspective
Distills without oversimplifying, excellent choice of diverse interviewees who provide key facts/context (often missing from western media coverage), while also giving the listener a sense of what the overall situation feels like for the human beings in the middle of it. Most international affairs podcasts draw on a small stable of pedigreed think-tank or academic “experts” from US or U.K. who have little experiential knowledge or stake in what they’re talking about. The Take does something much more difficult and valuable, by finding people to interview who have both expertise and on the ground knowledge and an actual humans perspective on the situation. The understanding this gives the listener is qualitatively richer than what one can get from listening to people whose expertise is only academic or business/political-elite oriented.

    Extremely biased
I’m an independent and found this extremely biased towards the left. Disappointing.

Vital counterpoint to mainstream American outlets
Superlative and often wrenching coverage of global issues. Their reports on the war in Gaza offer intimate and often heartbreaking accounts of the increasingly desperate lives of Palestinians. Absolutely first-rate.

    Love It But Not Enough
I do, I love the take, however I find it frustratingly short. I find I skip episodes that 3 minutes or less. There is so much going on in the world and this bite sized format works, just give me more bites.

Propublica just broke this story of their investigation: Trump is using his media company to allow rich donors to buy a piece of Trump and reap the benefits in the form of government contracts and tax breaks if he gets elected again. The investigative reporting connects the new “Trump TV” to a streaming technology company in Melania’s home country (Slovenia) and to a rich Republican donor who had made millions off his relationship with Trump already.

More accurate title would be One Take
Another unfortunate example of biased and often misleading journalism. For all the rhetoric and guests bringing up democracy, they sure are doing their part to fear monger and fan flames while only presenting one side. Sadly, this is a program that does little to quell the fear that media can’t be trusted.

    Qatari misinformation
This is antisemitic Qatari misinformation to sabotage democracy and freedom.

    Thank you for the truth
Thank you for a news source that chooses to be in reality, tell the stories of oppressed people, and doesn’t fall into the traps of a Zionist worldview

    Factual and Powerful Journalism
The 20 minute format is accessible but still included important context. I especially appreciate interviews with journalists on the ground and the up to date reports on Palestine.

You didn’t cover Senegal’s court, The Constitutional Council, preserving democracy
"The Take" didn’t cover Senegal’s highest court, The Constitutional Council, preserving democracy for voters and asserting the importance of an independent judiciary in the lead up to the March 2024 elections. Not covering this essential aspect of the story wrongly focused on individual politicians instead of telling the more important story about the democratic rigor of some of Senegal’s institutions, which can be a model for some countries in the West like the USA and countries in the Middle East. The courage of the judges on Senegal’s Constitutional Council, who upheld the rule of law against non-democratic pursuits, makes judges on similar courts in more influential countries like the USA and officials in international organizations like the International Criminal Court look really weak.

    Deserves Zero Stars
Disgusting propaganda spreading podcast seeped in lies and misinformation about Israel. Nothing I didn’t expect from Al Jazeera.

    Navalny Coverage
Thank you to all who work on this podcast, especially with the coverage of Gaza. Editing my original review to thank The Take for being one of the few news outlets to address Navalny’s ties to nationalism and white supremacist views!

    Anti Semitic Anti American

    The Best International News Podcast
The Take gives up-to-the-minute reports and analyses of today’s most important international news. This podcast provides a level of concise reporting, from journalists on the ground, you won’t find at other mainstream news podcasts. If you are interested in understanding the impact of world conflict upon its citizens, listen to The Take—a well-produced, highly informative daily show. You will feel more connected to the world.

If only everyone was listening to The Take.
What’s happening in Gaza right now is an ever worsening atrocity. The depth of the tragedy is compounded when one realizes that the Palestinians have been trapped in many versions and degrees of this nightmare for at least 75 years. So few have empathized with their injustice and fewer have taken action to defend them and tell their story. The Take has brilliantly, courageously and calmly shed light on the history and current horrors which are ongoing with no end in sight for all Palestinians. If everyone could hear these stories and the voices of these experts, perhaps many who have set opinions fueled by generations of Israeli bias and propaganda might realize that they need to reassess their assumptions. The ongoing violence is an outgrowth of generations of policies that have brutalized the Palestinian people. Israel’s justifications and agenda of retribution has turned their own selves into a monster worst than any resistance. . The insightful, intelligent and earnest conversations happening on The Take are desperately needing to enter into the popular dialogue if any road towards peace can ever be paved.

    Amazing deception
The amount of false information served by AlJazeera is stunning. Impossible to cover in a short comment. But at least one thing: 750,000 Palestinians were NOT " driven from their homes". Historic records show the truth. BUT what IS true is that more than 700,000 Jews were expelled from Arab countries in 1948, with those countries stealing all their possessions. Israel took them in. But no Arab state wanted or wants the " Palestinians". The only Nakba history supports is the genocidal attack on Israel by many Arab countries when Israel declared statehood. 62% of the land given to Israel by the Partition? The vast majority of this territory is the Negev, the desert. And I could go on and on combing all the untruths and half-truths Al Jazeera publishes.

    Consistently excellent
This quickly became one of my favorite podcasts over the past two years. The Take is proof that you can have rational, nuanced journalism without sacrificing an ounce of empathy. Full marks to Malika Bilal and the team.

With these Apps migrants can do all of their immigration paperwork and find out the viability of their claims before ever leaving home. For instance the last immigrant telling her story on this podcast, will not be given asylum for low wages earned in their home country. Better to know beforehand. This will keep the hoards from storming, and keep the US/Mexico border clear for commerce.

My go-to podcast for international news
This is my go-to for when I want to stay up to date about what’s going on in the world, or learn more about a story. Imagine if “The Daily” covered international news and didn’t have annoying hosts that talk down to you! Their guests are always super informed about topics and the host is amazing. Even if I think I know about a news story they are able to dig deeper and teach me something new, often talking to reporters who are actually on the ground for Al Jazeera.

Get smart on global issues - fast
There are a lot of news discussion podcasts out there but this podcast will get you up to speed on what the issues are, the current story, and a bit of historical context to tie everything together. What I appreciate the most is they don’t have a whole bunch of guests giving their opinions or whatever. Instead they have local reporters giving up to date unbiased information. Keep up the great work!

    Thank you Al Jeezera
A Canadian in America, I became so disillusioned with “Opinion News” of political Channels like Fox and CNN. I loved watching BBC and CBC to find out what was really going on in America and the rest of the world. Now I listen as I work to your commentaries and know that they are intelligent and objective.

    Just discovered the show…
Thanks to the Washington Post podcast recommendation. I was an avid viewer of the Al-Jazeera newscast in the US until was dropped. Love the non-objective coverage of world events.

Al Jazerra is my GOTO News Source!!!
Three apps I can’t live without are Al Jazerra for news, Vice for disturbing content and TMZ to gawk/Snicker/sneer at Celiberties. I like the layout of the software and the Take No Prisoners approach of your interviewers such as The Arena anchor. I especially loved how you gave the finger to MSB when you stood up to the thug!!!
  • MNOORMO
    Topical and Refreshing
This pod is the perfect length no more than 25 minutes. It’s topical and refreshing; however, frequency is a bit too much I.e. 3x a week. Perhaps once or twice a week would be better.

    Fresh Air
This podcast feels like a breath of fresh air compared to many other news podcasts. The stories in here are very diverse and it is not centered around click-bait topics. I appreciate the care in which they produce every episode.

One of the Best Podcasts for Global News
The excellent journalists at Al Jazeera go in depth to produce compelling, factually correct, and original material... information and discussion that is not found elsewhere (in my experience). There is no fluff here, but rather deep, probing, thought-provoking journalism of the the highest quality, examining the most relevant stories of today, and also bringing forgotten but unresolved stories back to relevance (ex: The Forgotten War in Darfur). Absolutely the best. Thank you.
  • popdensity
Remarkably good prespective on current events
Excellent podcast. Al Jazeera has journalists all over the world, that provide firsthand experience and much deeper insight into global news than can be found in most US-based analysis. The production quality on this is exquisite.
  • SinghSpeaks
    Highly relevant and well produced
Take the economist, layer it with best of local journalists and tell a profound story from all perspectives - you have the makings of a brilliant podcast “The Take”!

A Podcast for the rest of the world and the US too!
I’m surprised this hasn’t happened sooner. It’s so needed now. This podcast dives into the most important stories around the world and brings the intelligence and experience of a team that has spent years on the front lines. I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
