    Love this show!
I really love this show. It is so thorough and well researched. I always want more information and more episodes. If I had one wish for this show it would be that they make a set of review episodes. There is so much info and it is spread over so many seasons that I need a real comprehensive recap that includes all the back story as well as the latest and newest info of each case. I can’t keep track because it is so well done and there is so much info!

    Excellent
Came here from Pretend and heard Josh on there and tried this. Such high quality. I now understand the pod’s name. I like pods that take the time the victims deserve and do not need it to rush through the facts and details of the investigation. May they all rest in peace.

    Simply Excellently
This is a very well done podcast. I highly recommend it.

Deep Dive with a Mid Host
Certainly the most intensive and detailed review of serial killer Israel Keys. It’s just unfortunate that the host is so insufferable. The podcast is riddled with unnecessary opinions and personal details about the host that no one cares to know.

Was good but not any more
I think at this point they are reaching. Time to move on, find a new story.
  • En_lightened
Underrated - would give it 10 stars if I could
How is this podcast not in the Top 5 recommended? Amazing content delivered with respect and empathy. Shout out to True Crime Garage for the recommendation.

    Israel Keyes
The first time I had heard about Israel was on the Morbid podcast. Alaina mentioned how in-depth you go and wow, I’m hooked on your coverage of Israel. You have put so much into this podcast and it shows.

    Obsessed
This is by far the most well done, interesting and engaging podcast I have ever listened to.

    Best
No point listening to other podcasts about Keyes. They can’t compare to Josh!

    Previously rated 5
To Slow, all previous a must listen! Getting less “followable” locking new info behind a pay wall and new behind the pines co NOTHING, boring goes NO Where.

    highly recommend
i finally caught up with all of the episodes after finding this after In The Pines came out. I would have just listened to it day and night if i could have. Josh is so good. My only complaint is they give the FBI any credit. i’m listening to the interview with Agent Halla right now and i am just blown away by the incompetence of the investigation- at the time of the arrest and the lack of interest now. the music is amazing as well!
  • MarkRadd
    Good but
Lots of good info and research but the production makes it hard to listen to. Droning background music and songs that don’t end at the end of the listed play time are the worst part.
  • rtnzlve
The first season is the only one you need to listen to
They drag out every episode and season with short episodes and tons of “we’ll get to that in another episode” and then ending 6-7 minutes before the play time to play an entire song. Ugh. Between the ads and very little actual information: not respecting the audience. Including the assistants is unnecessary. Josh is hardly tolerable by himself. The rest of the cast doesn’t help.

    It’s gotten way too cross-promotional
I used to live for this podcast but not anymore. Most updates are promotional about events. It’s now just disappointing, especially with the Pines aspect. Unless they get Kimberley or the daughter on, there’s no need to listen anymore. Sorry, Josh.

    Fantastic
One of the best true crime podcasts I’ve ever listened to. An entire podcast dedicated to identifying possible victims of one freaky sexual predator/killer.
  • URSunshinegal
    Very well done!
I started this and couldn’t stop listening. I appreciate the detail and caring put into figuring out as much as possible about what really happened and the attempt to bring some more insight into the additional possible victims. There is genuine care, concern, and thought in this podcast.

    Just joined in!
I’m up to Season 4 now! Fascinated by all of your hard work to assist in solving the many crimes of IK. You are amazing Josh!

    Josh is great
But when he includes his assistants (?), I’m out. They have bad audio (if you’re going to be on a well produced podcast, get better equipment). I don’t get the point of having them on the podcast, Josh is an amazing host, the others, not so much. They should stay behind the scenes. Please.

    Serial murderer
This podcast is well done and informative. Worth hearing these episodes. A chilling collective history a lot of which was offered and also reluctantly shared by the perpetrator.

    Amazing work. Thank you.
It’s so thorough and well done.

    Unmatched
No comparison for quality of research and sensitivity. Just finished listening to the collaborative podcasts and all should be given credit for collaborating, but Josh and team are clearly the knowledge leaders of the recent breakthrough. Just feel like he needs the credit for his original, smart, dedicated work. He’s years ahead of anyone else…

Great collaboration with Somewhere in the Pines
Wow! My only wish is that he was alive to hear this team putting together dots he thought would never be connected - his arrogance in the interview recordings is tough to listen to - but the recent collaboration with Somewhere in the Pines is providing fascinating insights

    Keep up the great work
I came across your podcast by way of True Crime Garage. I must say, I am hooked. I didn’t know this podcast existed and I didn’t know much about Keyes until now. Your work is well done and intriguing. The only criticism I have (Texas born and bred) is your pronunciations of our East Texas towns. Haha! I live Longview, Texas and I shutter to think that Keyes was in East Texas as my family and I traveled some of those same roads attending sports and other daily life activities. Please keep up the good work :)

Simply the Best on Creepy Keyes
More than binge worthy! 🧬🧬 Josh Hallmark and now the group are the GOATS!

In a league of its own.
This podcast truly is in a league of its own. Josh and the team’s dedication and compassion for the victims known and unknown along with their determination to keep digging sets this podcast apart from any other true crime podcasts I have listened to.

    Get over it
You’re obsessed or you’re just trying to get folllowers. I’ve called you when you were in my hometown of Anchorage and never heard from you. I think you should focus on something else.

Can’t Believe How Late I am to The “Party”
Came here from True Crime Garage — WOW! Incredibly well done, interesting deep DEEP dive long form podcast. My favorite kind of show. I can’t believe I was sleeping on this show until Nic & the Captain had Josh on as a guest. I’ve been binging from E1 on forward, for a couple days now and I still have so much material to catch up on. Riveting. Chilling. Terrifying.

Follow a trail of connections & wild travel patterns
I arrived from True Crime Garage (TCG), & waiting for part three (3) of the TCG interview. While waiting, I’ve stared from episode one (1). Okay…I’m hooked & binging. Content in the minutiae. Good job!

    Stop!
You did a pretty good job researching and presenting the Israel Keys story. But you made all the way to the end. It’s over. Time to move on. The podcast is an embarrassment now. Nobody cares about you or your friends or what you eat or drink or where you vacation. None of that is interesting to anyone nor does it have anything to do with the topic of the podcast. Additionally you have objectively terrible taste in music. I mean honestly some of the worst music I have ever heard. It’s time for you to find something else to do.
  • Nerdywords
    Extremely interesting!
Checked out this podcast based on the recommendations by Josh and Dakota from Somewhere in the Pines! This is so well researched and such an interesting listen! Appreciate all the care and work that goes into these episodes and shows!
  • Steveoh2727
ADs have officially taken over in Season 6
I didnt change my rating but wanted to add to my previous review. In season 6 the ads have become too much, too often and too long. It feels like every 5 minutes now… Such an interesting story but riddled with obnoxious ads that take away the suspense and awe of the topic at hand. Do better Josh & team.
  • tnmom12
Enjoyed the deep dive but flawed
I appreciated the deep dive on Israel Keyes. It did drag on and got a little boring. I did skip forward when needed. The only thing that really bothered me was him referring to Israel as “Is” very often. It sounded to much like a friend nickname. We don’t want to make someone like this out as a “friend”. Just call him Israel or Keyes.

    Absolutely an Incredible Podcast!!
I recently heard about this podcast while listening to an Episode about Israel Keyes on another Podcast. A viewer asked if follow-up episodes on Israel Keyes, they said there would not be. However they did suggest for a deep dive into Israel Keyes, viewers should check out this Podcast. Although I am a true crime fan I have not heard a lot about Keyes so I was curious to learn more about him. This podcast is INCREDIBLE!!! and has blown me away!! The detail is exquisite and is laid out in a way that allows the listener to easily follow along!! I am still in the first season, and can’t put it down!! The host/producer and his team have put together a story that walks the listener through the diabolical story of a prolific serial killer which chills you to the bone!! Yet he is respectful to the law enforcement, victims and their families, and Keyes’ family. The only criticism from my perspective, referring to Keyes throughout the podcast as “Is”, humanizes this evil, diabolic man, who should not be , nor does he deserve that grace!!! Mary

Really good descending to the lower end of middling
Hey, let’s play the same gd interview excerpts in every episode. The first couple seasons were really interesting, but has waned as the show went on. And the music is… not great.

Sound quality might be making me insane
For such a thorough and well-researched deep dive into a gripping case, this is One of the most frustrating listens I've had in a while and I'm only on the first season. The interviews with Keyes comprise a large part of the content but the sound quality is lower in volume, hasn't been compressed to equalize to the narrator volume, and since Keyes mumbles anyway it's harder to hear so when the host's narration returns it feels disproportionately loud and clear to the extent that mouth sounds start to predominate. Lots of clicking in there, it's as if someone is eating cheese very quietly underneath the host's recording. It's a hard listen if you're ultra sensitive to things like this which evidently I am. Otherwise it's really superb

Used to be great, now not so much
Weird season. Terrible issues w audio quality & volume. Skimpy episodes. Nothing of real value covered unless you want to hang your whole case on newspapers and some Amish people. The ads dominate and how disappointing for Josh to take money from highly problematic platform Better Help. Ugh. And the music is just an irrelevant vanity project screaming look how obscure and feely my taste is. Finally, I wonder how a different and new Keyes podcast snagged first person interviews with the actual FBI agents on the case and people who knew Keyes when TCB has been going for several years and hasn’t managed to do so. I’m listening in hopes it will get better but I’m not optimistic.
  • ISpankEm
    Not a podcast about Josh
The last few episodes have just been terrible. This is supposed to be a podcast about Israel Keyes, not about the host or the hosts’ friends. Nobody is interested in that. The music is always awful, but lately, the content has been, too.
  • Yeahsureokay478
    Ethics.
Not sure how we can have so much discussion about ethics in the true crime community and then bring Bob Motta on as a guest. I thought this podcast was better than that.
  • tjdill
Host voice as annoying as Keyes’ voice
So much repetition and he chooses to end every episode with absolutely awful music. I keep coming back to it hoping it will have gotten more listenable. It has not.
  • aknoble
    Very throughly researched
I’ve been listening to this podcast for quite awhile now. I’m completely caught up. The subject matter is incredibly sad and horrifically frightening. Josh and his team have done the biggest deep dive on a serial killer that I’ve ever heard or read. While doing so they’ve also been incredibly respectful to all of the families involved, including Israel’s family, which I believe is a very honorable thing to do. I truly hope that through all of their hard work some of these cold cases will be solved and victims brought home to rest. The sound is top notch and the music is great too. If you like to listen to true crime podcasts, this one is definitely worth your time.

    Prayers for Beatrice
Josh, I was so sorry to hear on your last episode that Beatrice was sick. I’m glad you and your partner plan to spend more time with her and have a plan. I lost my 16 y/o Jack last year and 15 y/o Cheddar the previous year. Just know that she will have friends on the other side! ❤️

    Where are the caches?
Thank you for all you do, Mr. Hallmark. You now (unfortunately) have me reading Koontz and wondering if finding buried orange buckets is possible. TCBS is a real time look into a very detailed investigation of something we have never encountered before. The timeline of Keyes travels is so important to solidify and definitely on edge to listen to the next episode each week.
  • LydiaFaithfull
    Buddy cop pitch
And that’s how you do a goddamn Tori Amos interstitial. I enjoy very few speaking voices. Herzog, Nico, most depressive Germans probably, Martha Stewart, and more recently the narration of Josh Hallmark. Bridger Winegar is equally soothing. If I had my way, you’d be paired as traveling investigators. Like Coogan & Brydon in The Trip, but with serial murder.

The show is becoming what it was titled for
I think Josh is a great podcast host. I love his voice and personality. My issue is that for the last few seasons it’s been really inconsistent and a lot of baiting the audience with quandaries that never get resolved. At this point it’s 30% information, useful or not, 50% ads, and 20% music. I usually hold off for months and then come back to binge, and not much has been released to actually binge. Waiting to listen to every episode as it airs is torture with this release schedule and episode length

    What a cliff hanger!
Can’t wait for next episode!!! Maura Murray??!!!!

    I LOVE this podcast
I’ve been listening for years now and share this podcast with others. Always mesmerized and enjoy Josh’s storytelling. My only complaint is the episodes are just not long enough. lol. Keep up the awesome work Josh! ❤️

    Don’t call him “Iz”
The podcast is very well researched. It makes me very uncomfortable that the host called Keyes “Iz” like they’re old buddies. Just call him Keyes. The monster doesn’t deserve a normal sounding nickname.
