these guys have prob the worst track record of predictions i have ever seen in a sports podcast, like to the level where they should stop and do an apology / explanation of method podcast like 538 did. literally just said "oh theres NO WAY devin booker gets traded now" like what? where does that idea even come from? matt ishbia appoints a yes man and these guys take that to mean devin booker is invulernable? like based on what? apparently nothing booker traded the next day they took the bait on lakers after the luka trade like silly casuals, cheered warriors on for smart play after giving up game 5 to rockets then after game 6 act like giving up game 5 was a terrible choice... when youre under 50% and your whole job is basketball time to retire

Don’t mind the paywall, but hope they paid Zach some royalties.

They finally get a good guest in Zach Lowe and then paywall half the episode. Desperate tactic to get subscribers. I hope Zach sees that and never comes back on the show.

My god…. He over laughs at every one of Nate’s jokes and makes things painfully awkward. He also hardly gives concrete answers and usually says things without thinking it seems? Anytime Nate disagrees and has a counterpoint, John almost immediately gives up his initial take and sides with Nate. It’s like a tenured professor doing a podcast with an undergraduate. Unbearable honestly.

Paywall’d their podcast and had the audacity to charge $16 a month! Reasoned it by comparing themselves to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. The monetization and profiteering of podcasts is disgusting. Please please please do not support this business model or else it will encourage more beloved and BETTER podcasts to follow suit. There are tons of great basketball pods out there that are free, go support them and not this trash. God bless and good night.

Hollinger is always insightful but I’ll read him in the Athletic rather than pay so much now for the podcast!

What else can you say? Duncan is constantly putting out top-tier content for NBA fans that actually considers strategy, rosters, and future context like very few others (Thinking Basketball, Game Theory, some Athletic NBA shows). There’s some narrative discussion, but it’s all in the context of the actual game. Hollinger is a great partner for him, but it’s more of the same as far as tone and content - it can be dry and to the point, so if that’s not your taste listen elsewhere. For me, Duncan keeps the pace moving and adds some dry comedy to make it interesting, but it can feel like a cold shower versus shows with laugh tracks and soundboard drops.

No surprise Hollinger is doing podcasts and not working in a front office. Duncan is a typical fanboy writer who loves who he loves and hates everyone else.

Ya, as someone listens to a lot of NBA podcasts, this is an easy pass. The knowledge really isn’t there. An example, they said the Pistons gave up a lot of assets to get the draft pick for Jalen Duren? Really? What did they they up? They were trying to get rid of Jeremy Grant to not have to pay him. They trade him for draft picks, and gave up a pretty bad draft pick and cap space for Jalen Duren. A bunch of assets lol, horrible podcast. Easy UNSUBSCRIBE.

The Naismith family must have been bummed when they found out Nate Duncan actually invented basketball. Nate is a blow hard.

Nate Duncan is involved in two of the best basketball podcasts, hands down. He and John do a great job for fans who don’t get their content from ESPN. The knowledgeable basketball fan will love the in depth breakdown and coverage of not only this podcast but Nate’s podcast with Danny Leroux

if only Nate would let John finish a sentence, or even a thought. Seems like Nate is highly caffeinated and just needs to talk and interrupt while not listening at all. I would love to hear more insight from John. Nate, you already have your own pod, learn to lay out a little more.

Two of the best in the business for analysis and coverage and some inside knowledge on the runnings of an NBA org. Would recommend to anyone interested in stats and bball.

These guys tell like it is........Hollinger’s inside knowledge makes this podcast a gem.

Nate speaks 80% of the time. Would be nice if he would allow John to speak a bit more.

Based on their recent coach rankings, it is very apparent that Nate and John just spout off their personnel opinions without much thought or methodology to back up these opinions. A ranking podcast would be more effective if they ranked each participant in a series of weighted categories that result in a ranked value. This approach would result in rankings that could be defended with data instead of vague criteria that is applied inconsistently. If I want someone to spout off their opinions without much research or based on facts, I’ll listen to Charles Barkley. I have a higher expectation for Nate and John. Unfortunately, they don’t deliver.

These guys have just sucked all the fun out of the nba. Great if you want to hear an endless stream of indefensibly arrogant takes supported by cherry picked advanced stats. Hollinger far more tolerable than Duncan.

This is worse than the ringer. You will never hear somebody with a bigger and more fragile ego than Nate Duncan. Not many things were better than when Rick Carlisle put this dork into his place and humiliated him

If you are looking for insight from smart people who live and breathe the NBA this is your show.

If you’re looking for a National pod that covers the entire league WELL then this isn’t the one. Pretty clearly do not watch certain teams and it shows

Pretty good discussions but Nate comes across as a bit snobby elitist

They both bring an interesting perspective but there are some annoying things about this pod, namely, it’s too infrequent (only 1 hour, once per week), it has too many ads, and most annoyingly Nate’s blowhard / know-it-all tendencies are really grating

Just a bad pod by guys with horrible takes. I can see why Hollinger got chased out of the NBA. He’s a numbskull

Great information and good to get perspectives from an “outsider” and “insider”. I appreciate the acerbic wit. The ad reads are obtrusive and annoying but hardly a dealbreaker. Nate sometimes talks over Hollinger but I think that tendency is fading. Definitely recommend

Basketball already is pretty opinionated on who is best, which team will win, stats, all that. Which opinions can’t really be wrong. Yet somehow, I hate and disagree with most of their opinions. Not a single other podcast makes me feel this way. But this podcast just doesn’t sit well with me. They might have knowledge, but they manage to still get things wrong. And that’s just my opinion. :)

Good grief

Hollinger is great but this podcast has waaaaay too many ads. Makes for a choppy conversation between the hosts.

Thank you, Mr Locke for bringing these two great NBA minds together. I like the fact that every week they go on Twitch and answer questions. Also, please continue to do more longer shows, since you guys record once a week.

Very entertaining, and both Hollinger and Duncan are great at what they do. Nice balance of opinions, and they have a good chemistry. The only issue I have is that Hollinger doesn’t seem to value his stats very highly, for a stats guru.

Why drop all the good stats and insight and then drop an F bombs? Just FYI, you don’t sound cool
