Be better without all the …..
There’s a lot of input on these podcasts of places or things they have not done. I’d prefer info on places they have seen or experienced. And wayyyyy too much fake laughing all the time. I found it hard to listen to the podcast without hearing the fake laughs. I wish I could give it a better rating as I love learning about the different parks.

    Good
This podcast is amazing! My 12 year old daughter was answering a campfire question from a game we were playing. The question was “If you could follow one person around for a few days, who would it be?” My daughter’s answer was “Karen from Dear Bob and Sue!”😂 We love to hear about your adventures to inspire our travel.

    Great travel podcast!
Started out by reading their books and then when I discovered podcasts I found theirs and love it! We also love visiting national parks and monuments (and state parks) and have used their advice many times. They are a joy to listen to and my husband and daughter ran into them at a hotel breakfast area and talked to them last summer. Matt and Karen were even gracious enough to take a minute for a photo! I have recommended this podcast and their books to many of our friends who also enjoy hiking.

    great podcast!
Been a listener for years! I love hearing about places I’ve been AND places I haven’t (yet!) helps me with planning!

    The BEST podcast’
I listen to many podcasts, ranging widely in focus. This podcast is, hands down, my favorite. When I need to escape from the drama of our current culture, I listen to Matt and Karen and dream about adventures to come! This podcast is filled with valuable information for anyone visiting any public lands in the United States, but is also quite entertaining and humorous. Thank you, Matt and Karen, for sharing about your trips and experiences. I am another active traveler about your age, and your podcast inspires me!

    My favorite escape
Fell in love with the books, and the podcast is such a wonderful escape from daily busy life. I feel like I get to spend time in the parks even when I’m not physically there. Cheers to Matt and Karen, appreciate your content very much!!

    Synchronous fireflies
You guys are REALLY underestimating what happens with those fireflies. There is no video or photograph that will ever do that event justice. Just know that it is 100% something you need to see. It is on a scale you cannot possibly imagine.❤️ Of the two locations you mentioned, see them in the smokies if possible.

    Thank you!
When we are planning a trip, first thing I do is listen to the podcast about the area we are visiting! We have done a National Park trip, 4 years in a row!

    Oh goodness
I listened to this for information about Isle Royale. Oh gosh. So giggly. Just goofy.

    Love!
I LOVE this podcast! Whenever I am planning a new trip to a National Park Service destination, this podcast is one of the very first places I go to in order to get info and tips. Matt and Karen are genuinely funny and their love for the outdoors and for the NPS is infectious! 5 out of 5 stars!

    Such a great podcast!
This has become one of my favorite podcasts. I began listening to National Parks podcasts in late 2023 as we planned our June 2024 trip to California. (We visited 19 different public land units, including Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic, Crater Lake, and Redwood NP’s, as well as several CA state parks and other NPS sites). I started with the episode about the Northern California road trip loop, then listened to the individual episodes about each of the places we would visit and I doubt we would have seen half of what we did if it weren’t for this podcast. It’s so well-researched, informational, and fun to listen to. Since we’ve returned, I have been listening to more episodes and planning out future trips to the National Parks. Thanks so much for all you do Matt and Karen!

Great podcast for National Park junkies!
My husband and I love listening to the Dear Bob and Sue podcast on road trips. It’s kind of scary how much we can relate to Matt and Karen’s sense of humor, thoughts toward group tours & “interesting” people and good pizza. We enjoy the trips, stories and fun banter between the hosts. We look forward to each new episode!

    Great
Light hearted and informative. Unlike the previous reviewer, I think the laughing is completely appropriate- keep up the good work Matt & Karen, great podcast!

    Almost perfect
Great podcast with all you want to know before visiting a national park… but only if you don’t get distracted by the irritating, permanent laughing. To the hosts: please be a little more considerate of the listener in that respect. Keep the fun, pleasant and eloquent voices but not the minutes-long ha ha ha which do not make any sense. Besides that, the podcast is perfect!
  • umsoleil
    Great information!
They seem to answer all the questions I have about traveling to a certain place! So thoughtfully done! Both hosts have such fun and delightful personalities!!!!
  • Serenity_Now24
    Stop. I can’t take it!
I really wanted to like this podcast, but I can’t take the constant banter and laughter. I don’t know what I was expecting, but not this.

    You Owe Me!
Karen & Matt, I just discovered your podcast and I am loving it! I’m ashamed to say I have already listened to 40 episodes in 1 month. I will be traveling to Alaska in August and listened to you Katmai episode. I didn’t have any plans to go there, but wanted to have the bear experience you did. Unfortunately, I will be there too late in the season. BUT I am told the bears will still be at Lake Clark. I can’t wait! I feel like the desire to go there is your fault so I am asking for the plane ticket reimbursement. 😉 Seriously, thank you for sharing your amazing life with me! Carol, Signal Mtn., TN

    Love this Podcast
I just discovered this podcast and have started at the beginning. I have enjoyed everyone so far (up to #21). You two are a delight to listen to and as a former full time RV’r I’m enjoying your travels (and learning about the places we missed).

    Worth A Double Listen
I enjoy this POD cast so much I’ve listened to them all twice!!! I listen in the car as I drive around town and to my appointments and meetings. When I was done with all 100+ episodes I missed hearing my friends talk and laugh about their adventures so I started over from number one! I look forward to Thursdays now when they drop a new POD! Thanks Matt and Karen! You guys are great!!! Always listening. Mark

    Great Starting Point!!
I like to listen to this podcast all the time!! But it is super helpful when I am in the early phases of planning a national parks trip!! I like to listen to the episodes about the park I plan to visit and it really gets my mind ready for what I may want to try while there!! From there, I watch YouTube videos and read guidebooks to make an itinerary. Thanks so much to Matt and Karen!!
  • Sonnyleah

Great Podcasts (and also great books)!

    Best National Parks Podcast
If you are a fan of the National Parks, this will become your go to listen each week. Matt and Karen provide extremely helpful information, a healthy dose of humor, and practical tips and recommendations that have been life savers for me on numerous occasions during NP trips. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

    Thank you!
This is such a great podcast. Matt and Karen are so knowledgeable and funny. They even answered a question of mine in a mailbox episode last year when our family was planning a spring break trip to Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, and Monument Valley. Their recommendations were awesome and we had an amazing trip.
  • Sue (and Bob)
    Love it!
I’ve read all the books, but these are so enjoyable to listen it. Lots more details! I “made” my husband listen to the one on Carlsbad Caverns after he said he wanted to go there. I am with Matt, he’s with Karen, on that one! Keep them up! Sue (and Bob)

    Great show
I love this show and have listened to all the books.
  • Mrsklamc
    So much fun!
I started out just listening to a specific park’s episode due to upcoming travel, and now I’m working my way through them all. It feels like having dinner with friends while they humorously recount their vacation adventures-and sometimes mishaps. Long married couples may also enjoy the familiar back and forth- at least for us, the dry wit, and loving sarcasm and eye rolls are very familiar. Can’t wait for the next episode.
  • reviewfight
    Still listening!
I look forward to every new episode-and I listen to Matt and Karen on Patreon as well-the only podcast I pay for, lol. This is my second review and have been listening for years and just felt compelled to reiterate just how entertaining and informative Matt and Karen are. Please keep making new ones! We love you guys!!!❤️

    Dear Bob and Sue
I am in love with this podcast! Not only do Matt and Karen give lots of very useful advice, they do it with humor and a chatty style that makes me feel like I’m talking with good friends. I also enjoy the interplay that comes from being in a long term relationship. I love the history and geology channel segments. And I LOVE Karen’s laugh! It’s bubbly and infectious and always makes me laugh too. The mailbag segments are fun and again, packed with wonderful nuggets of information . We plan to attempt at least some of the easier hikes, but even if we don’t, this is the best kind of armchair traveling. Please don’t stop!! I’m a huge fan - Bookerspaw

    A “Must-Listen” Before a Park Visit
Our family is on a quest to visit all 63 U.S. National Parks and we listen to this podcast before we visit every new park. It’s informative, educational, helpful and I always hear some hidden-gem I hadn’t read about before. They’re a wealth of knowledge and just the sweetest couple. Can’t recommend enough!
  • Terriod
    So Enjoyable
I seriously am loving these podcast. I love the humor, the banter, the information. I’ve only started listening a few days ago. I started at episode #1. I am now on episode 34. I just can’t get enough. I loved to hike, but unfortunately it has gotten too difficult. I enjoy your stories and can actually relate to some of the mishaps, like our tent flying off in the wind. Or being on a very narrow ledge where I was sure I was going to die. Or being sure that we were going to freeze to death camping out. All the while thinking it was the best day. There really is nothing that compares to be out in nature. You have made me laugh out loud. I really recommend these podcast to anyone who loves nature, loves to hike or just likes to have a good laugh.
  • Traveling Bugs
    Love it!
I am enjoying your podcast and the fact that you are experiencing the National Parks and sharing those experiences. You definitely keep me entertained especially Karen and your giggles. Thank you!! When researching a park and things to do. Where do you find your source? I am new to this and have started with my state parks but would like to visit the National Parks as well.

    Excellent podcast
I’m binging all the episodes since I discovered this podcast. I love Matt and Karen’s dynamic and I’ve learned so much especially about different hikes to try!

    Love the Podcast!!!!
Everglades is our ‘home’ park. We go frequently. I listened this morning to your Everglades podcast and I have a python story. We were riding bikes at Shark Valley and saw an alligator who looked like he had a small tree trunk or a huge stem in it’s mouth. It wasn’t vegetation, it was a huge snake!! It was one of those moments where your eyes can’t believe what they are seeing! Wild!

The best!! (And most fun podcasters)
These guys are so great!! (So good that I actually bought their books as well). Their podcasts are not only incredibly thorough & informative but their delivery is delightful (I often find myself laughing out loud in the car as I listen). So useful that I’ve saved more of their episodes than any other podcast.

    Refreshing and fun!!!!
I just love this podcast. I have learned so much and planned a few trips based on recommendations or explanations. I knew this was such a great podcast when I listened to your episodes of places I had already visited, and agreed completely with your recommendations or thoughts on the parks. I actually painted the entirety of the first floor of my house listening to all the podcasts and LOVED it! It made those many, many hours not so torturous and the time flew by!!!! It would be so nice to run into you guys on a trail or in a pizza place grabbing a beer one day!

    5 to go
My first podcast subscription, so that’s saying something I guess. A bit slow to adopt. Heard about them while we stayed at New River Gorge and we were asked if we visited because of the podcast. So we listened. And it was okay. Ha, ha. Might be the episode with the most laughter ;-) Then after our American Samoa visit last month I sampled that episode. It contained great information that we should known before hand such as, “bring your passport.” Since then I bought the first book and have been listening to the podcast while doing yard work and driving. Mostly mailbags and info on the 5 parks yet to be visited. Overall it is great. Not every episode is wonderful but you can say that about Ted Lasso or any show, so let’s not be haters. They deftly addressed the laughing and that made me laugh. Now I am hooked. Just signed up for instagram so I can follow them there and will join their Patreon account. Thank you Karen and Matt!

    Favorite Podcast
I discovered Matt and Karen recently and have binge listened to almost every podcast episode now. They do an excellent job with giving very helpful and useful information about all the places they go. Love the history channel segments, i always learn so much from them. The humor and banter between Matt and Karen is so sweet, I literally laugh out loud with every episode. Tune in, you won’t regret it!
  • Ethans Mom 428
    One of my favorite podcasts
Started listening as part of my "prep" for our Grand Canyon trip and now I'm hooked. Love the banter and practical advice. Very much enjoy the "history channel" aspects. I would definitely listen if you decided to branch off into more of those.
  • Kristy1872
    Absolutely Love the Stories
I came across this podcast after returning from a trip to Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon this spring and I can’t stop listening now. I love the humor, laughing, and misadventures as much as the great facts about the parks. I have found myself laughing out loud several times at their banter. Highly recommend this podcast to anyone with an interest in the National Parks and travel to all the amazing public lands around the country.

    Karen’s giggle
We love Karen’s giggle - always makes us laugh! Their tips on Olympic Nat’l Pk and Hwy 20 to North Cascades Nat’l Pk were wonderful.
