    Thank you!
I haven’t been able to stomach the come follow me curriculum for the last few years. This podcast has helped me to love the scriptures again and see beyond the limited “Sunday school answers” to a stronger connection with who Jesus really was as a radical activist.

    Prayer of Channing
Channing, thank you so much for that tender prayer! I can super relate to the feelings you shared so thanks for helping me feel I’m not alone!!

    What I didn’t know I needed
Channing and Elise put some much love, thought and research into their episodes. As a nuanced member of the LDS faith I treasure this podcast. It gives me so much of what I never knew I needed until my faith journey began a few years ago. Channing and Elise help me find the divine that I believe is in the scriptures. They acknowledge hard, necessary topics, fight for social justice and teach me more about the person I want to become. I’ll never stop listening to this podcast.

Helps me view scriptures in a new way!
I love listening to this podcast each week to hear a different take on the stories I've heard over and over my entire life. I have learned so much and have always appreciated getting a new perspective and a new way to interpret each story. Thank you for all your hard work!

    Faith filled and empowering
I love this podcast. It examines the actual wrestle we can have with text. You look at context. You look at perspective and lens, and truly elevate womens voices and experience. I’m so appreciative of the points you bring up as I prepare my gospel doctrine lessons and as I exercise faith and self authority in my personal life. Your work is so helpful and so uplifting. Thank you!!

    Thought provoking and Faith inspiring
Channing & Elise are very thorough in their study of the text beforehand. Offering up multiple views and inviting the listener to ponder their understanding of the text. Inviting us to challenge our assumptions in order to see and understand more. A must listen for every Christian

    Good, but frustrating at times
I am a weekly listener, and this definitely always makes me think and look at new possibilities and perspective on things. I very much appreciate the time and thought that goes into the podcast each week. My reason for the middling rating, though, is that it continually bothers me that these lovely ladies keep taking one possibility, one “maybe”, one “perhaps”, and then treat it as a definite for the remainder of the conversation. There’s no consideration of other possibilities or interpretations, just this one offhanded perhaps that is treated as the only option. It’s a very black and white view, and leaves no space for greys. I also am put off sometimes by the centering of the white, abled, cis woman privilege that happens a lot. I understand it’s natural to happen, and I greatly appreciate that they recognize its presence periodically and work to counter it when can. It just makes it very hard to listen to sometimes, especially with the all or nothing tendency I mentioned above. That said, I still make a point to listen regularly, because I do appreciate listening to the viewpoints and takes on the CFM that I may not have considered on my own.

Socially aware Mormonism Keeps me sane
I really enjoy this podcast. It keeps my brain and spirit growing, questioning, and lively. It reminds me that I can elevate marginalized voices across all contexts of my life. As a side note, I would take the negative reviews and ratings of this show with a grain of salt—or an entire salt lick of salt. As I read those reviews, I see a lot of internalized misogyny and racism. It’s sad, but we all have some of these systems of oppression built into our perspectives. If we’re not actively fighting and questioning them, they are actively expanding.

    Wow
This is not always the podcast to listen to when I want clear answers tied up with little bows to comfort me. But when I hear the same interpretation of Scripture over and over in Sunday school, and my heart starts to wonder if there’s something more to be seen or learned, this podcast shares amazing insight and research. Get comfy with being uncomfy and embrace the beauty of cognitive dissonance. Thank you for all you do and share.

    The podcast we all need
Insightful, honest and thought-provoking. I look forward to this podcast every week knowing it will provide some comfort and introspection while helping me develop my own testimony as I redefine it.

    Faith Promoting
I relate to the feeling of being too faithful for some and not enough for others, so, unsurprisingly, this podcast is perfect for me. I attend church weekly and hold a calling, but commonly taught perspectives are insufficient for my hungry heart and mind. While not every interpretation resonates with me, I cannot express how much I appreciate the perspectives this podcast presents, particularly regarding our Old Testament women. It has provided me new material to ponder and led to personal insights I have needed during this time in my life. Thank you 🤍
  • barefacedbergen
    Ya’ll are killing it.
This season focusing on the Old Testament is my favorite thus far. The way you both so thoughtfully move through the murky waters of some of the most challenging stories in our canon is breathtaking and sooo needed. Thank you so much for all the hard work and heart you put into every episode. Much love ♥️

    Incredible Work
Channing and Elise lend voice to perspectives often misrepresented or forgotten. Their intentional exploration of the scripture stories encourages deep thought and introspection. I just started listening and will continue to do so!

    Just Great.
I love this podcast! It introduces our religion to me in a whole new perspective to be that is over looked and under appreciated. I love how it gets both sides of stories and represents information in as non biased of a format as possible. Highly recommend!❤️❤️❤️

    Peace in new ideas
I only recently discovered this podcast, but upon listening to even just the first few episodes from 2022 I found myself crying; a peaceful cry. It’s as if my thoughts and true feelings of my heart were being validated. It’s the realization that there are others out there who want to both hold strongly to their beliefs as a member of this church but also want to challenge and ask the hard questions, knowing that there may be many options for Truth and truth and that sometimes we may not ever receive answers. It’s comforted me to realize that within this community from this podcast, we can ask the hard questions and it doesn’t have to mean we are losing faith, but seeking to strengthen it. Thank you truly for ALL you do and helping women like me feel seen.

    I feel seen
I stumbled upon this podcast in early 2020 when I was going through another faith shift. I immediately felt seen. My eco-feminist heart was so full. While my faith is still rebuilding and shifting, I’m grateful to be challenged and hear view points that are beyond my own experience. Sometimes they are similar to my own experience and sometimes the things they address are beyond what I’ve ever thought about. Listening to this podcast weekly brings me so much joy. I’m glad to have a seat on the soft chairs.

    Blasphemous Junk
Vapid interpretations by women who don’t care to get to know Him, His word or His will. It’s all about “ME!”
  • JohnSmith907
    Extremely misleading
The title and intro of this podcast got me excited about it. I consider myself an educated and realistic woman when it comes to controversies in the church. As a modern covenant-keeping woman, I was looking forward to hearing informed, fresh perspectives and expanded truth to enhance my study. This podcast does NOT provide that for its listeners. Instead, it provides an incredibly ignorant perspective on history and scripture. It seems to have been created simply to find fault with the doctrine and scriptures in the church. The commentators blatantly ignores any evidence that does not support their personal opinions and strong negative feelings about the church. They refuse to distinguish between church policy/culture and doctrine. Frequently, they preach ideas that actively oppose the church, and even call individuals to feed their spirits of rebellion against the church. Truth, and revelation from God, is completely disregarded in favor of personal opinions. If you are looking for fire to fuel your campaign against church principles, this is the confirmation bias you need.

    Inspired, Positive, Powerful
Channing and Elise have helped me find so much spiritual peace through reflecting on their research and thoughts about feminism and progressivism in the gospel. Thank you for all that you do!

    Perspectives that give me hope
I would recommend this podcast to literally anyone on any point in your spiritual journey. Listening to Channing and Elise taught me that I can be honest and vulnerable about my spiritual questions and insights. As I have listened to their open engagement with CFM, I have felt like there is hope for those of us who want a deep and beautiful relationship with God but don’t necessarily feel right about everything in the church all the time. I have cherished listening to them unpack scripture with context, history, love, and respect for spirituality and their fellow humans. You will love this podcast if you are interested in finding come follow me material that leads with curiosity, uninhibited love for God, social justice, and of course feminism ❤️

Soft place to land and learn
So grateful for the time and effort put into this podcast by Elise and Channing—such a complimentary pair. Their eyes and hearts are wide open to learning and sharing truth from inside and outside of the LDS religion…affirming divine goodness in all its forms. It is apparent so much research and pondering goes into each episode. Their discussions on the Come Follow Me lessons are thoughtful and introspective, and have blessed my spiritual practice immensely…even being a Balm of Gilead for me over that last couple of years when I have sometimes felt alone and anxious in a room full of people at church. Some episodes and concepts shared have caused beautiful paradigm shifts in me…and even when they have shared something that has not resonated as much with me, I have so much respect for their lived experience and know they hold the same space for others. Their work to shine a light on and learn from BIPOC, queer, and uniquely abled people in our communities has also blessed my life. And I love that whether it is people in scriptures, people in our church’s history, or current church…they don’t label people as “good guys/people” or “bad guys/people”…they examine the story or event, and the person as a whole, holy, dynamic person who is learning and should be held accountable for mistakes made, and share how we can learn from them…Keep on sharing your light Channing and Elise. Namaste.

    Disappointed
I started this podcast hoping for continued perspective on polygamy during those weeks for Come Follow Me. I listened to the first two episodes and was so disappointed. It was very negative and judgmental and the spirit was not present. I felt like I was listening to an anti- podcast. I love women and I am of course a feminist, but I am first a believer in Jesus Christ and His church. I want to approach the gospel from a place faith and and open mind, instead of criticism and pessimism.

    Polygamy mini-series
I have sent the polygamy mini series to so many friends. The research and time that went into this miniseries is amazing. You can tell that Channing and Elyse feel so passionate about this. Great work ladies!

    Meh
I was excited about the premise of this podcast, but I think it’s pretty poorly named. There’s not a lot of faith-promoting discussion going on. I think the tone of this podcast is actually quite dismissive of and disrespectful to women in the church (particularly in the early years of the church), the faith with which they chose to live their lives, and the work they did in building and growing the church. If you’re into simply being offended on others’ behalf without much regard for cultural or historical context or research, you’ll enjoy this podcast. It’s clear that the hosts are very passionate in their views, but spend most of the time interpreting scripture and doctrine to fit their own agendas and without regard for or presentation of factual history or insightful, reliable sources.

Absolutely the best podcast in my rotation
Channing and Elise bring so much insight to the weekly CFM reading. I always listen to each episode at least twice, and I love adding their sources to my to-read list! Their main strength compared to other Come, Follow Me podcasts is their willingness to step outside the source material to focus on broad topics and issues. I think the episode "Redefining Missionary Work" is a great example. The reading included several mission calls, and instead of spending a lot of time on the text itself, Channing and Elise (an their guest Duvy) spent time discussing a new vision of what missionary work could be, if we let go of the colonialist project of bringing everyone in the world into the Utah-centered Church on our terms.

    Love this podcast!
I love the way this podcast helps me to think beyond the surface level of the scriptures and other Church topics. It’s helping to expand my thinking beyond just the normal Sunday school lessons I’ve heard all my life, which I really appreciate.

This podcast is just the best in the world. It allows for interpretations that are different than general Sunday School interpretations and answers and really explores more. Channing and Elise never force their opinions on anyone and are so gentle. (Not to mention their voices are beautiful and so lulling!!) I love how this podcast remembers women and puts them in the scripture where they were probably not seen before. Channing and Elise are so so good at seeing individuals and their souls, their hurts and pains, especially those of women and minorities. I love their gentle, giving, gracious hearts and the safest place they give me to occupy in the midst of transitioning out of Mormonism but keeping the Book of Mormon and my testimony deep inside my heart. Enjoy this amazing podcast! Learn! Have your heart opened and let it open!

Love this podcast and these women!!
I so appreciate the thoughts, ideas, feelings and truth that this podcast speaks to me!!! Becoming more spiritually mature is so vital within the LDS church organization, and this podcast challenges me to grow and stretch in positive and amazing ways!! Thank you for being willing to be vulnerable and honest!!!

    Lovely
I was skeptical at first listening to this. I was brought up very strict “don’t ask questions or have doubts” kind of LDS. This has brought me so much peace. Good job ladies. I wish they had a social media platform for us to chat and ask questions and find a like minded community. Hint hint...😂❤️

    Gives me hope
For sometime, I’ve been in a precarious position where I feel the pull to leave the Church. This “all or nothing” mindset is really prevalent in Church culture. And what I love about this podcast is that I am realizing there are loving, understanding, empathetic, CHRISTLIKE people who are finding an alternative and healing way to stay within the fold. This podcast has been a balm for my soul and has helped me to recognize why I DO want to continue my membership in the Church. Maybe this podcast isn’t for everyone. But Channing and Elise’s minister to a group of people who really need it.

    A True Treasure
Every episode is beautifully done. So insightful. A true treasure to listen to every week. Well done 🤍

    Very political and one sided
I tried to listen with an open mind looking for new perspectives. Found this very political and one sided. It is dull of criticism. I was looking for helpful ways and to see things in a positive and new light. Did mot hear much about Come Follow Me. The focus does not seem to be on the Savior whose gospel this is.

    Healing for my soul!
This podcast has honestly been healing my soul! The typical Sunday school answers to CMF are just not feeding me spiritually anymore. I love this podcast because it helps me still participate in church, but it’s all from a social justice and feminist perspective. I can’t tell you how spiritually enlightened and closer to our Heavenly Parents/Christ I feel after these episodes!
  • Jannebee
    Great Gospel Lens
I came across these ladies last year and they have turned scripture study and gospel learning into one of the highlights of my week. They help me find myself in the stories and give me perspective that has never been offered before. My weekly treat!
  • Amshaff
Not a Come Follow Me Podcast
I was severely disappointed in this show; the premise is interesting and the host have good chemistry. But they are also only interested in promoting their own political agenda. They cannot, or choose not to, distinguish between church culture and the Gospel. They don’t even attempt to remove their own zeitgeist from, or provide any context for, he the history they’re teaching, and give off an overall negative tone that runs through every episode. This is not a Come Follow Me podcast, it is a hyper-partisan political show that is more interested in criticizing what they perceive to be the political failings of the Church instead of providing deeper understanding of the Gospel.

    Heart medicine
I loved stumbling upon this podcast - a gift for my soul. The honest and heartfelt approach to discussing the week’s topic are balm to my questioning heart. Thank you for opening doors and allowing us to walk through with you!

We all need to hear it!
Channing and Elise are doing work I didn't know I needed. I've learned from the scritpures, from the latter day prophets and from scholars, authors, artists and more through this podcast. They present information in a context that is easily understandable and applicable to my everyday life. While easy to understand, it is not always comfy/cozy listening. There is a lot of pain, struggle, hurt and eye-opening informaiton but it is necessary. And it has increased my fiath more than I can explain. I share their episodes constantly with friends, family and on social media. Thank you C + E!! xoxo
  • Kaspa7
    Much Needed Perspective
I really appreciate what these women are doing. A feminist perspective is much needed in the Gospel and is something I’ve really been missing, especially as I try to make sense of feminism and the Church relating to my own personal testimony. These are the voices that have been missing! Thank you for the work you put into sharing your insights!!

    Elevated Gospel Seeking
This podcast is exactly what I’ve needed to add to my spiritual search. It combines the truth and importance of social justice and equity I feel, with the scriptures and Christ’s gospel. I love how Elyse & Channing take the harder road to really search and seek out the uncomfortable portions of the chapters. They speak such truth and come to the podcast with such intelligence, wisdom and whole heartedness. These episodes are like the gospel discussions I have with my friends and I really love how their perspective supports and pushes my own spirituality.
  • E281973
    Love it
I haven’t really listened to podcasts before, but after a week of desperation and frustration with experiences where the scriptures were used as weapons, I was blessed to come across this podcast! I just couldn’t stop. I’ve listened to every week since then. Honestly I haven’t been this excited to open and study my scriptures for awhile.

    Favorite podcast
I have a hard time getting invested in podcasts and finding one that produces new thoughtful content each week. That being said, this podcast is a big exception. I love the variety of topics, personal examples, and relevant societal issues that make their way into this brilliant podcast that puts faith and feminism into conversation with each other. My favorite scripture commentary!

a community of believers like me
I started listening to this podcast when my husband started his faith journey. Covid had hit a couple months after & I felt alone. No one to talk to, no one to cry with me, no one to work through difficult topics with. I am a feminist. I wanted to look differently at my long-held beliefs and figure out my testimony. I found Channing & Elise’s podcast and immediately felt love. Every week, I eagerly wait for Mondays when I can cry happy tears and feel the Spirit touch me in ways I’ve never experienced. Channing and Elise pour their hearts & souls into their work. They offer me ways to look at the scriptures. Sometimes it resonates with me, other times I come back to an episode to relisten and I find new things. Because of them, I am not afraid to think differently than the status quo. They are inclusive of the marginalized & forgotten. I love looking at the scriptures for the least of these. Thank you for seeing me, including me, and loving me.
