AmdyfynI lived in China 2016-21It’s amusing to hear your guest talk about Trump perceiving himself as a “king” when Xi is the lone dictator-king of China. And the “expansion” by the US is also amusing when China is expanding throughout the adjacent seas to the Mainland and beyond, as well as economically colonizing countries in Africa and Central and South America. Ask the Philippines, Japan and Vietnam how they feel about incursions by China into waters of those countries. Moreover, when I was in China it was common know that Biden was “in our pocket” (as stated by PRC colleagues and friends) financially. I loved my time in China and I love the Chinese people. But make no mistake that the CCP intends to dictate terms of expansion. In regard to Gulf of America? Obviously it’s a psychological ploy and nothing more and especially the annexation of Canada is amusing and is absolutely steeped in humor, as annexation of Canada would kill the voting power of his party by adding 40 million ultra-liberal Canucks to the voting populace. Panama? That’s definitely a possibility. We built it and paid for it and the ‘gift’ to Panama wasn’t meant to have Panama permitting China to be positioned at the critical canal. Greenland? Of course it’s a concern that Russia and China influencing that maritime choke-point which directly endangers the US. But, again, obviously, Greenland won’t allow itself to be “purchased”. Yet, we need greater military presence there, no doubt.

TRMurpheyHigh Quality InfoI got interested in China watching when I began working for a company based in Hong Kong with factories in China. Before my first trip there I read a few books, watched some videos, but stumbling on this podcast was the best help. For someone doing business there, listening to the back catalogue really helped me understand how China works and the “feel” of the place, as well as better assess trade and geopolitical risks in the region. Always high quality, interesting content.

Music Critic8390Excellent content. Let’s not ask too many compound questions. As an Americans who lived in China for 5 years, I’ve enjoyed listening to the insights from various guests on the podcast. They’ve given people like me who follow China affairs some food for thought. Although the content has been excellent, I would agree with the previous comment and strongly suggest to not continuously ask compound questions. I feel that if I was also a guest on the show like many previous others, I would feel the compound questions to be a bit long-winded. Whenever listening to a podcast, I want to feel that the guest(s) and the host are having a conversation around a theme that allows us to hear stories or perspectives we haven’t been exposed to. At the same time, many listeners want the conversation to keep progressing. Lastly, as a guest I would prefer the host to ask concise questions. It’s perfectly acceptable to have conversations in between questions for a few seconds, but it shouldn’t become too sidetracked. A guest should walk away feeling good about the conversation, feel their insights were valued, and want recommend them podcast to others. Overall, I wish this podcast nothing but success and hope that it becomes one of the best China-focused podcasts.

gjsixhujdPros: informative. Cons: unnecessarily convoluted.I get lots from this show and love the choice in guests. I feel I’m getting read into the most current academic discourse on China. A few critiques: please stop asking compound questions; please contextualize the discussions a little better for the audience; and, if this podcast is intended for a broad audience, simplify and expand the scope of the discussion.
