Where Is George Gibney?

A message from Mark Horgan on a new investigative series launching next week from the production team behind ‘Where Is George Gibney?’.

This new series will focus on another figure who lived a double life and was eventually forced to live under cover. And it’s a story, like the George Gibney one, that many would prefer was never told.

So, from this point on, this feed will be renamed ‘Cover.’ Series 1 one of which was ‘Where Is George Gibney?’ and series 2 is coming next week, first thing on Tuesday the 12th of November.

You can continue to contact our production team about either series via our new email cover@bbc.co.uk and rest assured, any significant future movements in the story of George Gibney will also be covered right here. Talk to you again next week.

    Incredible
I used to work with survivors of sexual assault. Most never get Justice. Regardless, if these survivors never get to see Gibney go to jail for his crimes, they will at least know that he has been exposed, and on an international level. Their willingness to participate in this project, will educate people about predatory pedophiles, and possibly prevent others from being victims. Applause!

    Powerful
This is a disturbing story I was not familiar with. I give praise to those who carried through with this podcast and gave all of these victims a voice. It is a hard story to here but incredibly important.

A bit hard to follow, wish there was less filler content
A very important story to tell, though I wish it had been executed better. It’s unclear why so much time was spent following/watching Gibney in Florida yet taking no action, and why this was even included in the final broadcast (mostly seems like filler content, designed to elicit suspense, which doesn’t seem appropriate). I also found it difficult to remember all the different people involved over the years and in this podcast. While it’s not my favorite investigative journalism, I’m thankful for the efforts to shine a light on the horrors this man inflicted on children and the tragedy that the law failed to hold him accountable.

    In appreciation
Thanks for giving voice to the survivors and for all who care about justice and about keeping children safe from predators like this man. Well done, professional and compassionate podcast done with such sensitivity. And much appreciation to those who shared their story in such a public way.

    Heartbreaking
This is hard to listen to sometimes. After ruining so many promising young lives why is this criminal not yet arrested and charged for his unspeakable crimes? I hope this podcast can help bring justice for his victims, it is long overdue.

    Justice denied
A fascinating, heartfelt podcast on an evil person and the many victims he leaves in his wake. We need justice for all the victims. The fact that he is in the United States haunts me that his crimes continue. I hope the Irish government puts priority on the investigation so he can face justice.

    George Gibney is a Monster!
Thank you Mark Horgan and BBC for this podcast to allow the victims to have a voice! It was heartbreaking to hear, but am glad that many of the victims are now able to help and support each other. I only hope that the CREEP, George Gibney, is finally held accountable for the pain and suffering that he has caused to so many victims!

    Undeniably excellent reporting
This podcast is professional and empathetic toward those who suffered. That Gibney chooses the Catholic Church as a place of solace, well, the irony is inescapable. He must feel his actions are condoned, or forgiven by an organization that has a prolific track record for not taking responsibility for molesting children. I grew up Catholic and knew many male and female clergy that touched my life in a positive way. I was never personally sexually molested by any.

    Gripping and Haunting
I had never heard of George Gibney before this podcast. Very well-researched; I especially appreciated the empathic concern and voice given to the survivors. These survivors deserve justice.

    Noble effort
Noble effort and producers should be commended . Lot of series is audio of the lads sitting in the car . Radio , indicator noises etc. which doesn’t add a lot . Think it could of been done in 4-5 episodes . The voices of the victims were harrowing. Their bravery is amazing . Let’s hope something comes of this and he is deported

    Engaging and horrifying
Masterfully produced and told with purpose. This podcast will hook you in and break your heart at the same time. The interviews with victims are captivating and the news clips used really help paint the picture of this story. Thank you for sharing this story that needs to be told. May your research and efforts bring justice to the survivors.

    A captivating podcast.
It’s like a Raymond Chandler novel involving elite sport and child abuse. You’ll be fully invested after the first 5 minutes.
