Fart VandelayCan’t tell you how much I miss this showAstrid and Sean conquered podcasts to such a degree that I am coming back to listen to the Personal Shopper episode for what must be the 5th time simply because I just watched demonlover for the first time

mikayla2126only good film podcastmiss this show a lot!! the only film podcast I’ve found that actually discusses movies with clarity, informed analysis, passion, and genuine interest in and knowledge of the genres they cover. They joke about it a lot but most movie podcasts literally are just the hosts summarizing the plot points of a film and not actually offering any insight beyond that, but this show is different. Astrid and Sean are smart and funny and their commentary and criticism is so refreshing. And ofc this show has also introduced me to so many new favorite movies! If/when there’s a new episode I will be enthusiastically listening! <3

clara<33333listen now.this is the best podcast if you want to get more into movies that you cannot mention around people in a normal setting without sounding completely insane, which i do on the daily. absolutely incredible commentary from both hosts and some great film choices. thanks for making me 10000% more pretentious

Jessie M2Not another film podcast (for real this time)The hosts have joked about past reviews calling them nice people, but I think they bring a charm, chemistry, and thoughtfulness that is missing from a lot of “alternative” movie podcasts. They are also quite funny, favorite moments include Astrid touching Sean’s “I’m not Scottish” nerve and Sean calling that one guy “Edward Popperhands.” Listening to this has not only exposed me to fascinating films, but it’s also helped me to be more confident in building my own opinions about film. In one episode they absolutely rip into 2018’s Mandy, which is a bold move considering it’s the internet’s darling. However, though I do still like Mandy in my own way, it helped me realize where I was just following the hype (you know what? The cheddar goblin isn’t funny and I’m tired of pretending he is!) This is a podcast for the people who watched that one guy do “The Most Disturbing Movies” in a dozen different installments as a teen (I will still never watch August Underground, sorry to sickos). One movie they’ve discussed is Singapore Sling, and when I heard about it as a dissected list of freaky moments, I thought it sounded boring. Now it’s one of my favorite movies. Film can be something that brings people together, or makes you look cool on the internet. The films Sean and Astrid discuss may not make you cooler with friends, so be warned, but I know they’ve opened my mind. I had never watched SOV horror films and now I’m a Shatter Dead Head and In the Dark… mark. Final thoughts: Listen to Sean’s old podcasts, purchase Astrid’s writing because it rocks. My pleas to the hosts: Release the Dennis Cooper episode, and tell me the song at the end of episode #18. And Thank you.

larsonlocThreeGood when they’re taking about a movie they enjoy, bad when they’re talking about the internet. The dude’s constant self-mythologizing is a bit much; you’re not Henry Darger, you have a few podcasts about featured titles on Cinemageddon.

robinhoodienycA great new lense on horrorSmart, funny, insightful discussion of films far off the radar. Both enthusiastic and critical analysis from hosts who clearly know the material.

storyboredmegMy new favorite parasocial relationshipTwo hosts I admire from afar having invariably fascinating and funny conversations about movies. This is the best film podcast, you can forget about all the other ones (including mine). My preferred walking to work or cooking dinner accompaniment!

bestdorkInsightful and very funnyInsightful, very funny; the hosts talk about horror movies I can’t muster the interest or fortitude to actually watch but am riveted to hear talked about and contextualized. New fav. It’s really good

jimmymcsnakesTotal stunnerEven though I am horror baby, this is a fantastic podcast. Engages with all sorts of death-drenched films with both an acute critical clarity as well as a healthy sense of humor about the nature of the various B movies discussed. A no-brainer subscription here, don’t sleep.

Ed W KFantastic film podcastA great podcast from two very thoughtful hosts, that covers movies that I might not have otherwise heard of or watched. I strongly recommend listening to it
-
No peerGood podcast (it’s great!!!)This podcast is splendid so far. I don’t know anything about any of the movies they talk about but I’ve listened to every minute because it’s so awesome to listen to 2 funny people talk about things they love and know a lot about. Plus, even if I’m not super into movies the way a lot of you nerds probably are, it also makes me feel more normal to listen to a podcast that is done by weirdos with whom I feel share my kind of world even if we aren’t super alike, we might want to live in the same sort of reality. It’s great!!! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
