Introducing Motherlode, a Ranieri & Co. production. The gripping story about the birth of computer hacking from an unlikely centre - Melbourne Australia. It was here teenage boys, and they were mostly boys, hacked into some of the biggest organisations in the world.

It’s also where a young hacker, Julian Assange, cut his teeth on computers and went on to develop Wikileaks, the most disruptive website the world has seen. But Wikileaks didn’t just spring up out of nowhere. It was 20 years in the making. Motherlode reveals the technological and political motivations behind it.

Fascinating

As a former Commodore 64 kid, loving this entertaining investigation into how hacking as a lark became hacktivism and ultimate big state threat. More please!

An interesting take on one of hacking’s meccas

It’s a cool story with a lot of huge players involved, but they manage to keep things focused on Melbourne and how it was a huge hacking Mecca made up by a bunch of teenagers. I especially liked Ep 2 and am excited to see how the story progresses!

Interesting story, great host, fun audio sound throwbacks too :)

Fascinating story about first “hackers” and first episode is a fun look at how it all got started, mostly by a few teenagers just messing around with their home computers. Interesting to hear about first big scale attacks, particularly on NASA, especially now that we take this sort of stuff for granted.
