God Show, too bad it’s on Wondery
Removing all but the first episode to force people to pay for Wondery ? That is pretty disgusting. Guess I will stop following any Wondery shows.

    1 star for ads? Really
I get so tired of seeing reviewers giving 1 star not bc the podcast is good but bc of ads. Would you spend months of your time for free? Well why should anyone else! Ads is how they feed their families.

    Excellent series highly recommended
I remember when Daphne’s was murdered and had no illusion about the motive that drove har assassins even though I didn’t know the details. Thank you for not giving up.

    Wonderfully Told
Great story. Even though I knew mostly nothing about Malta and who Daphne was but was totally engrossed in the story. Hooray for the brave and smart journalists who helped move this along to solving it. It isn’t complete yet but I hope these folks will continue to report on the events to come.

    Amazing
Expertly written, soundscape is phenomenal, all around five stars.
  • Bending toward justice
The Maltese people are the champions
In the last episode Stephen Grey laments the frustration of not being able to bring criminals to justice. In the case of Daphne the crowd chanting “justice” and harassing the political elite has brought some justice. The Maltese people have a bit more freedom because of Journalists Without Borders. A critical template for response to our times
This is a smashing podcast and we want to know what happens next. Careful investigation, filled with drama, about one of the issues that will keep opening up: international networks of corruption and the brave souls who expose them. Paul Caruana-Galizia has also exposed this critical issue beyond the heart-rending personal story of his mother, for Tortoise Media in the UK, a series called Londongrad about Russian oligarchs nestling into the heart of the UK’s power structures. Who killed Daphne also reveals the power of collaborative journalism as a response to the targeting and killing of tenacious reporters.

    Essential journalism
Brilliantly narrated and fascinating case of importance. A major achievement, in my opinion. Where will we be without truth?

    Important to support
Murdered journalists are a threat to our democracies the world over. Bringing perpetrators to justice restores faith and trust in the governments that we elect. Well done to the journalists that tirelessly pursued justice in this important case.

    Who killed Daphne
The story might be good but long ads make it impossible to listen to.

    Free press is essential
This a a riveting synopsis of what happened and is still happening around the world. Hopefully the creators will update once the trials begin.

    Incredible Story- Must listen!
In a world where corruption runs rampant (and as of late seems to double daily), this story was just what I needed to hear. Beginning with complete empathy for Daphne’s son and the rest of her family, I found myself running the gamut of emotions. Seeing how a group of fellow journalists along with her family had Daphne’s back despite the dangers was awesome! It restores some kind of belief in the good in the world. Knowing that you all continue to complete Daphne’s work and expose those who are responsible for so much destruction is incredibly inspiring. Keep doing what you do, and may God watch over you all. ❤️

    #1 ALL TIME
I’ve listened to just about every big true crime podcast since the original Serial came out. This is easily THE BEST podcast I’ve ever heard. Absolutely incredible.

    Riveting!
Absolutely have loved every episode of this podcast so far, it’s brilliantly put together and well researched. Each episode builds a deep story (that is easy to follow, not sure why others had issues) that is fascinating. Recommend to anyone interested in true crime!

    Addictive!
Excellent summary of how corrupt politicians almost got away with murdering a journalist. This story provides another example of the importance of investigative reporting.

    Excellent. Cheers to the editors
Finished it in less than 2 days. On the drive to New Hampshire. Very engaging. Incredible characters. I wonder when the movie will be made. Has the potential to be award winning. Will there be updates to this podcast as the players go to court or more secrets are exposed? Well done!

    To slow
Wanted to love this, but the storytelling was slow and confusing.

    Really enjoyed this!
This is an enthralling podcast. I really enjoyed it. The last few episodes felt like a thriller… I couldn’t stop listening!

    Excellent
Steven is so easy to listen to. He’s not only an excellent speaker but an incredibly intelligent journalist.

    Unsatisfying and, well, meh…
This is a confusing, unsatisfying story about the horrible death of a rather irresponsible reporter in a corrupt Mediterranean island country. You don’t get any closure and there are so many shady characters that it’s hard to keep track of what is happening throughout. I guess it’s really not that hard to follow, but it’s just not very interesting after the second episode or so. The reporter has a good delivery and the content would normally interest me, but i can’t really recommend committing to this podcast unless you’re bored out of your mind and need to kill 6 hours driving across Oklahoma on I-40 or in some other similarly dismal predicament.

    Must listen
Gripping and wonderfully produced. Storytelling does justice to the insanity of the story.

    Engaging!
Brilliantly produced. Eye opening. Important. Couldn’t stop listening. What entertaining and educational podcasts should be.

    Very important
Assassination of journalists is a huge threat to justice and truth in our world. This is a very important story.

Type in this murdered woman’s name for a discount!
I didn’t know Daphne’s son put out his own podcast before this one was released. I’ll be listening to “My Mother’s Murder” instead. I was disgusted and completely turned off of this podcast as soon as I heard them using a murdered woman’s name as a promo code for a discount from their paid sponsors. That is absolutely horrifying. “Type in this murdered woman’s name to start your free trial!” Tasteless.

    Raw and Heart-Wrenching
Wow. What an eye opening and sad story about the ugly underbelly of an idyllic island and their corrupt and entitled wealthy politicians. Willing to do whatever it takes to silence an investigative reporter, and her inquiring family, seeking answers and justice, the politicians and their “supporters” turn a blind eye in the killing of the reporter and then filed so many lawsuits against her family, in an attempt to get them to go away. Heart breaking and raw interviews with family members shared anger, shock, frustration and disbelief, which I shared. Compelling story. Pray the family will eventually have justice for Daphne.
  • MegsVat
Listen to My Mother’s Murder instead
Daphne’s son created his own podcast to tell his mother’s story and legacy, “My Mother’s Murder.” It’s emotional and powerful. Wondery’s version of this story is overproduced and feels like it’s intent is to shock the listener versus telling this important story to the world.
  • NextMilton
    Enthralling, tragic political thriller
This is an in depth whodunit with first hand accounts of the investigation into the murder of a brave, campaigning journalist. It’s deeply engaging, but also worrying to hear how the government of an EU state can be so compromised.
  • EEL168436
    My Mothers Murder
You should all go listen to my mothers murder instead, it came out in 2020 and is hosted by her son. Disappointed that wondery decided to put this out when the story has already been told by her son.
  • Rsljacksmama
    Subscription?
Got into the story and now I have to pay? Feels tacky.
  • Danf5
    Corporate mediocre podcast factory
This isn’t about making good content, its about generating the most revenue; which is fine, but the quality and actual diligence relating to the “process” of making a good podcast suffers. How this is number 1 on the charts is beyond me. Def not an organic number 1.
  • Happy Photo Printer
    Well done
Excellent production. The personal interviews are genuine and puts the listener there with the sons. The writer has made a very cohesive true story.

    Very interesting and well produced
I have listened to hundreds of podcasts, and so far I’m very impressed with how exciting the story is, and how well it’s told.
  • SmashleyAD
    New movie idea
Instead of remaking old movies Hollywood needs to turn this story into one. It would be a blockbuster. Just don’t let it star Tom cruise 🤦‍♀️
  • Ellessa13
