steve cape codTrashWhen John left it died . This podcast is just insufferable liberal know it all douches .. who looove to throw political agendas they favor into every episode to twist it their way . Can’t wait for this to end and you all disappear

crAZRickWrap it up!I still have no desire to finish listening to these chucklenuggets suffer thru season 5 or Crusade or the follow up movies or the novels… This pod died when John left.

Quit deleting the whole thing!5 starsIf you’re new to the show or remember searching for what insane hour the next episode would air, this is the Babylon 5 podcast you’re searching for. I love the different takes a mixed group of newbies and fans of old brings. It feels like early days talking with fans — perhaps even _more_ welcoming to newbies. From the ridiculous to the profound, every episode is more than worth listening to. You’ll find yourself wanting to join the conversation. (I’m saving the Beyond the Rim sections for my next rewatch, but I’m confident they’re just as good.)

TampabrettFinally 5 starsGreat mix of new and old, it’s a clever format that puts this podcast above most other episode review style shows. I’ve been waiting for the main host to take a week off as he’s the only downside to this show, this week’s episode gives me the chance to rate…5 Stars!!

FullerBadge000Bring on the end!I’ve been listening since “Between the Darkness and the Light” at the end of season 4 and very much look forward to each new episode. I’ve watched and rewatched B5 since the beginning and in the 90s eagerly awaited Lurker’s Guide new postings. You guys give me the same feels. I’m probably the biggest fan of Nicole or Justin as newbies but like Kevin and Mike as first ones. I really enjoyed the discussion on how we view history a few episodes ago and really enjoy it when you all delve deeper into the story, characters, and its relevance today. I can’t wait to see how the newbies will experience the coming end to the series. Thanks for all that you do. Haters be damned! You’ve all earned your 5 stars!

StellarShannonWorth it for the host shenanigans aloneI’m genuinely surprised by how much I’ve come to enjoy B5, largely due to this fantastic podcast. The character growth in B5 is compelling, and I love getting to know the podcast hosts through their discussions. As a newbie myself, I appreciate avoiding spoilers and am very curious about the “beyond the rim” discussions. The differing perspectives of the hosts are both welcome and enjoyable, as they don’t always agree on everything, but are honest. The background tidbits about the show and actors add depth, and when the hosts go off-topic, it’s hilarious. Their friendship, camaraderie, and teasing make each episode a fun time. The podcast is consistently updated, active on social media, and offers bonus content like actor interviews and behind-the-scenes moments. I also love how they use original B5 promo audio and episode clips. Every episode, I look forward to the shenanigans, inappropriate jokes, and the inevitable derailing of the conversation.

PT directorUnderstanding Is Apparently a Multi-edged SwordI’ll start off by saying I’ve watched Babylon 5 probably 6-7 times over start to finish. Since I discovered this podcast back near its inception I have enjoyed following along with this group of people. I love listening to both the First Ones and the newbies and how they interpret the episodes and guess where they think things might go next. The conversational feel and the different personalities all chiming in really makes it a fun listen especially when things go off the rails. Not gonna lie though, I really miss John’s perspective on Londo and would really like to know his thoughts and reactions to the character arc so far. I love the show and keep up the good work!

TrekkieTreyTheTrekkerJust stick through itWell, much like the TV show, this podcast wasn’t great at the start. It was messy audio, lots of anger , and for god sakes the pseudo-spoilers that Scott would give. With that being said they all grew on me. I actually look forward to this podcast - but seriously wish they would maybe fact check some things that they state as fact. For example the Centauri trilogy books, Senna was Lord Refas daughter , not his PasoLiati Jano family that Londo had to absorb into his family after sword fighting and killing his friend. Jessie is hilarious , although I find that they all tend to be super passionate with their anger , she has it honed to a skill. Also, the love is equally heard in this podcast. Scott drove me crazy and really bugged me at the beginning and I almost stopped listening because of reasons but after the vibe of the show was found it settled into a great and entertaining podcast. You’re welcome for the 5 stars. You only deserve 4.9975 stars but that isn’t an option so I shall round in your favor. Xoxo. PS , Scott I appreciate you now. Nice job leading the teams and guiding the masses and creating great content

Blake WhitsonGrey 17 is the last best hope for Babylon 5 Podcasts! With a group of first time viewers and long time fans going over each episode spoiler free for the first timers and then with spoilers beyond the rim with the long time fans this show has something for everyone. And the cast being long time friends certainly helps as well. So check out the Grey 17 Podcast and follow along on this journey through the greatness that is Babylon 5

Greenlion1978Best sci-fi podcast I’ve come acrossI am a first one that watched all of B5 when it aired and almost all of it (not much season 5) over and over again. I really enjoy the newbie’s perspectives on each episode and the beyond the rim section at the end of each podcast. Keep up the good work and help me get through season 5 with the newbies.
-
wynstonsmythI don’t know that like this showBut I enjoy it. I enjoy it so much that I am even considering watching season five for the first time since the original airing.
-
Chao00011101Nostalgic but in a good wayI am a First One who watched B5 when it first aired and have watched it many, many times since (except season 5; your newbies will understand why soon). I appreciate the analyses of your First Ones but especially enjoy the perspectives of your newbies as I am unable to watch B5 with any objectivity and without taking into account the series as a whole at this point. Hearing the newbies conjectures and opinions takes me back to the endless debates my friends and I had when B5 first aired. Keep up the good work!

DibbiousGrey 17 is a good mixI’ve been a B5 fan from the pilot movie. But due to life and VCR snafu’s - I missed out on episodes and watched them completely out of order. Because of that I missed out on a lot of the prophecies and predictions. But Grey 17 has a good mix of First Ones and Newbies. The Newbies bring a great fresh perspective. Especially Emily - her insights and questions are so different from how I think that it’s great to see things from that different a view. She’s been threatening to leave and I hope she doesn’t. And (I believe it was Justin) who said the Man in the Middle is Sinclair. And I choose that to be how I will think of that from now on. Little warning - they do take a long time to pronounce Ivonava’s name reasonably. But if you stick with it - you’ll enjoy this crew.

ProdSlashA Familiar ComfortI first started watching Babylon 5 when it first aired and brought some close friends in for the ride. After the initial run, we spread it to other friends on reruns and delighted in their discovery of such a fantastic piece of media. The reason I love this podcast and its panel is because of how familiar it is. I’ve had so many of these exact same conversations with so many of my close friends. Some of those friends have gone beyond the rim these days, and it’s really nice to hear someone new make the same discoveries they did. Thanks for the great work, and keep it coming!
-
FarsidejakeAptly NamedWether you are new to Babylon 5 or have seen it many times it is always better to discuss it with others, this is a good companion series because of the mix of fans and new to both Babylon 5 and sci-fi in general cast members, even if some people seem to not watch the episode. They also named their series well, because it seems that there is almost always someone missing from the grey 17 podcast.

beepbeepzipbangUpdating my reviewI came back towards the end of season three to see if things had improved any as I had originally had high hopes for this show and there were lots of good things that were just wreaked by the negativity. I was happy to hear that the guy who seemed to be a major vortex for hate watching is no longer with the podcast and it made a huge difference for me. I now update my rating to reflect that it’s a lot more fun now and the criticism is more balanced.

stillelectronicFantastic for pouchlings & veterans! The mix of perspectives on this podcast is excellent! I love hearing the analysis from the First Ones (Furst Ones?) alongside the reactions and insights from the hosts who haven't seen the show before. Including the voices of people new to sci-fi is brilliant, it's refreshing to hear what people who aren't familiar with a lot of the tropes think of them. Highly recommended for both first-time viewers and those of us who have been watching since UPN.

ZocaloMerchantGreat podcast about a great showFans of Babylon 5 will enjoy this unique perspective from new watchers and seasoned fans of the show. Don’t miss an episode!

queenrikkiTop tier showI’ve been a fan of Babylon 5 since I randomly watched The Gathering when I was a nine. I’ve always been a sucker for anything with as space ship. That little girl had great taste because this is a show that I’ve come back to many times over the years. I love have a podcast to watch along with. I often joke that my favorite genre of podcasts is Babylon 5. I’ve been a podcast listener since before “podcast” was the agreed upon term (and people still had iPods) so I’ve seen dozens of shows covering the series come and go, and Grey 17 is absolutely one of my favorites (maybe even THE favorite). It’s a joy to hear a variety of different opinions and viewpoints in one show. There are *sooo* many episodes that I cannot *wait* to hear the newbies reaction to. Unfortunately, I have to do just that. I may not have been here from the beginning but I’m definitely sticking around until the end. Best regards, Erika.

Mr. McGuvvyGrey 17 PodcastI have been enjoying the Grey 17 Podcast for the past several weeks. I am an “Old One” who watched B5 back in the nineties and then hadn’t watched it in intervening years, due to lack of access, until Max made the series available again. When I stumbled upon the podcast I had no idea how entertaining it would be to attend a weekly watch party with this congenial and, at times, zany group. Thanks chuckle nuggets Michael McGovern New Jersey

Just Jack No One ImportantBabylon 5 The point of No ReturnAs always you guys are knocking out of the park. I look forward to your commentaries. What is interesting is the events of a 30 years ago television show reflects our modern day history. Please tell Jessie, Tim Choate aka Zathrus will play a part with our characters but not part of the Lady Morella’s prophecy. I want you all to remember when I first was watching this, there was no cable, and dial up internet, and I had to rely on on others who recorded these episodes and when they would venture into where I worked sometimes two to three weeks later, is how I saw the series. And sometimes not in broadcast order. Thank you for doing this again.
-
xgator1996Walking The Path to Discovery (ReDiscovery)Having watched the original and then “forcing” my adult children to watch ad well, your podcast is a joyous celebration of B5. I look forward to the honest use of tinfoil hats, changing ‘ships and ‘stans and the making of old ideas new again. I do hope that the newbies will also experience the book collections when they finish the series as I can only imagine the uproarious reactions to reveals to come. Thank you for you joy, thank you for sharing your friendships, and more importantly thank you for expanding the B5 universe in such a fun direction.
-
greenchicken2Perfect way to relive an almost perfect showListening to the newbies go from haters to totally engage by the 8th episodes was extremely satisfying.
-
QueenOfTheMehThis Podcast is 9.1 billion tons of fun! This podcast was recommended to me by a friend and it does not disappoint. I have loved B5 and really enjoy the whole Grey17 cast. The First Ones are really informative, but I love the Newbies take on the show and how it’s like watching the show through a fresh pair of eyes. I love the sometimes raunchy slapstick humor and banter, it cracks me up and makes eager for the next episode. I love the girl power that Nicole, Jessi
-
Jacob GarfinkelGreat show!I love the juxtaposition of the first time watchers and those like me who have seen it many times. I also really love all of the behind the scenes information from the making of the show. Good stuff!
-
LohwriterLike watching for the first time! What a great idea for a podcast, bringing together a group of long time fans and people who haven’t seen it, some of whom aren’t even necessarily fans of the genre. It’s wonderful to see how good writing can transcend the huge transformation TV shows have undergone since the show originally aired. It’s also fun to see what things haven’t aged well, and why. So not only is this a must-listen for new or old fans of the show, but it is also a useful listen for anyone interested in the craft of storytelling.
-
MiggymackWho are you and what do you want? With the JMS buzz f something big happening next week, I thought “there’s gotta be a podcast out there about B5”. Binged 12 episodes this weekend and am anticipating the ride thru the rest of the series.

Sarah4953(Re)Watching My Favorite Show In a New LightI stumbled across this podcast a few months ago. Babylon 5 has been my favorite show since I came across reruns as Season 4 was airing when I was a teenager. It has been my comfort show ever since, and started my love of science fiction. I do a rewatch every year, sometimes more than once, and rewatching it along with everyone and listening to the reaction of the newbies has been a lot of fun. And of course the Beyond the Rim segments where us First Ones can gloat is always fun. I don’t always agree with the newbies takes, and more often than not I end up yelling about a favorite scene/episode/storyline getting raked over the coals by one or more of them, but I’m looking forward to their reactions as they continue through the show. I’m glad they made it through some of the rough stuff and stuck with it. The fun is really about to begin with Season 3. Keep up the good work, everyone!
-
Rpm44Sci-Fi for newbies and veterans of the showEnjoying the pod. Really love John and all his hate of everyone. I don’t see how you got that many people to review this 30 year series. Keep up the great work

Bryant Burnettegreat for the initiated and newcomers alikeA friend who I share B5 fandom with recommended this podcast to me, and I'm glad I followed his recommendation! The podcast is a mix of hosts who have seen the show already and who are brand new to it. This proves to be a fascinating way to revisit the series for somebody like me, and I assume it would also be a lot of fun for sci-fi fans who have never watched the series but want to follow along with some expert guides. I look forward to following the podcast to the end of the series -- and maybe even beyond?

MeamoneGlad I Found This ShowI’m still early in the podcast. I have been a fan of Babylon 5 since about the end of the first season. I watched the original pilot during it’s original airing and found it interesting but confusing. I missed early in the first season because I hadn’t heard anything about the show being picked up until about mid-first season. Started watching and quickly fell in love with the show. I have tried for years to get friends to watch the show and really haven’t had much success. I like the approach to this show and though I’m a little late to start with them on a weekly basis, I am planning to get caught up and continue this journey of rewatching on a weekly basis. Also how to maybe convince a friend or two to join on this journey. I am aware of a lot of the unaired stories and plot lines that never would be, but I am looking forward to hearing a gem or two that might never have met my ears.
-
Carave1Somewhat rough beginning, but totally worthwhiletl;dr - This podcast is a lot of fun, and quite entertaining from the perspective of an original fan of the show. I look forward to it every week. Slightly longer - the podcast is a little bit like the show itself. It was a bit rough at the beginning. If you're starting out from the beginning, you might find one or two personalities rub you the wrong way - STICK WITH IT. I've watched the show itself many times over, so I'm not learning much new about Babylon 5 itself (although the interviews are fantastic bonus content), but watching the newbies grow from haters to lovers has been a wonderful journey. I highly recommend it.
-
Ceecee1978Don’t apologize hahaI admit I tried watching B5 numerous times and just lost track and needed incentive to continue. After listening to episode #39 I might have found my incentive. Thanks gang for making an unbearable episode semi cringe.
-
Good podcast, give it a listenNewbies aren't badThey give a nice perspective to the Oldies who've seen it before. I especially like "Mike" because I might disagree, but mostly he brings the fire! Londo forever! My only problem is that the announcer kinda kills off the show with his own takes sometimes.
-
Big Bucs MommaAwfulToo many people trying to talk, so no one really gets to say anything. The best part of this show is the newbies, but they get kicked out too soon. Maybe they should just do their own podcast, because that I could listen to. But this is just droll otherwise
-
I Was MelvinedNot The OneI found the Peter Jurasik interview and that's what brought me in. What a cool person! The audio quality was atrocious but I figured it was an interview and those can get tough. Nope, I was wrong. The entire show sounds like it's a bunch of babbling in tin cans. Bush league. Babylon 5 is a complex series, but the "newbies," for all I can tell barely watch any TV let alone sci fi. And the sheer arrogance of the "veterans" is vomit inducing. If you want to struggle to listen to a bunch of amateurs basically insult a television masterpiece, then this is your podcast. It is absolutely NOT mine.
-
dead jawaA show ahead of its time revisitedI don’t want to diagnose any conditions but can I assign some? I’m enjoying the varying opinions and occasionally tortured views of the people viewing the series. I would throw out that even with the series arc it’s still meant to be a TV show, corny random scenes and all. The characters are going to have the familiarity with each other that any office or workplace show is going to have. It’d get pretty tedious if all the characters stuck to formal military protocol with each other. I remember grasping at theories and hypotheses with every new episode, just like the show Lost, which must owe some inspiration to B5. The hosts are coming up with some great new ideas and are catching details I’d previously missed. Since you’ve brought up the B5 toys, how about discussing a few of the games that developed (sometimes) cult following, like Babylon 5 Wars and A Call To Arms. My one request is, why aren’t I hearing more about Keffer?
-
RosieBaylissGrey 17 is AwesomeI cannot express how much I am enjoying this podcast. I find the preparation that Scott and all his friends put into it so amazing. I can't wait for each episode to hear the girls go off on the guys when they tangentally get into other Sci Fi references which Jesse and Nicole aren't familiar with. (Hope I got that right. I thought I heard that Emily is a SciFi Fan). I love that the group are long time old friends and can jab on each other without worry. Jesse's creative use of the F-word cracks me up! The research that is put into the episodes by looking at JMS's user nets from the 90's as well as books and articles that the team has looked up is really getting them noticed. I'd bet the interviews that this group has managed to get is only the beginning. My one wish is that I could submit questions and comments for a review after I hear it. Sometimes the discussions they have prompt comments and questions I hadn't thought of previously. From the first podcast, I immediately knew I had to become a producer (Grey Council Member) when they opened a Patreon account. I hope that everyone onboard, even Ivan- Nova Chuckle Nugget, stays throughout the series. It will be wonderful to to hear how they will love every character on the cast as they progress. I applaud your ability to keep spoilers at bay! It really makes the insights of "The First Ones" so genuine. Keep it up! PS: We are strictly an Android household, but I opened an Apple Account just so I could do this! :)
-
Ducman82Bringing back the joyI grew up watching B5 and fell in love. The great care JMS put in to his “long game” of plot development was just amazing. Everyone one on this pod cast does an amazing job, even chuckle nugget. Listening to the newbies brings back to my first time viewing the show. Thank you!

Jinflip7I'm here for the John Sheridan action figureNewby here. I stumbled on Babylon 5 a few months ago and needed a watching partner. Grey 17 has been the best watch along podcast I could ask for. The old ones have great insight and help me to look deeper and analyze the show. The show history and interviews, something I normally wouldn't seek out, have been very insightful and enrich my viewing experience. The newbies make me feel better for not getting every nuance of the show although, they are catching a lot more than me. Grey 17 is a diverse, thoughtful crew. Each member gives something unique to the conversation. I downloaded iTunes just to leave this review. Please give me the John Sheridan action figure.

SithSevFun show for casual fans and expertsBabylon 5 is a show that generates lots of discussion among it’s fans, and it’s been doing so for nearly 20 years! This show is basically a roundtable discussion of each episode as viewed by first time watchers and those who have seen it before. The hosts have a good mix of serious and funny conversation, and it’s a fun way for me to hear more about one of my favorite shows.
-
briant1701InspiringA truly great podcast taking you though the episodes of the most incredible series ever created. I highly recommend listening!
-
LindsaykwardellExcellent way to experience B5 all over againI watched Babylon 5 as a teenager and repeatedly since, but I absolutely love getting to experience the show all over again with new people. The cast of this podcast is excellent, they are fun to listen to and insightful into what is going on. This has become one of my favorite podcasts to listen to, I look forward to it every week. Thanks for putting this all together!
-
El Cid (no I'm not Hispanic)Love ItI am a “First One” and my wife is a newbie. She agreed to watch the series with me and we are currently in the middle of Season 3. What’s fun is my wife made some of the same comments as the newbies for the first season especially about the gathering. Keep it up guys, I love listening to you. I’m playing catch up right now on the podcasts.

Monkey Man King (Aaron King)Long time fans and newbies combine wonderfullyThis podcast is a refreshing change from most fan based podcast episode reviews. The combination of long time fans and newbies who also happen to be friends makes for a top notch quality podcast. Their own comments to the contrary, this podcast has top quality production values, womderful persoanlities and at the same time a feeling of friends casually chatting during a watch party. I wish I had a group of friends like this to chat about B5 with. As a patreon, their discord has a similar feel that I'm glad to be a part of.
-
Xak02Grey 17 is great new way to absorb Babylon 5Hey Team, I really like your podcast. Putting together people who have never watched the show before is a really awesome way to experience this amazing show again. Getting to hear fresh perspectives from all the "newbies" and their questions and insights is really fun. The "first ones" are cool too. At times having ten people doing a podcast is awkward especially over zoom or whatever but you guys do a pretty good job making sure everyone gets to share their thoughts without a ton of talking over. As a long time fan of Babylon 5 I really appreciate what you all are doing here and I wish you all the success. See you out there. PS I hope you keep your Intro the same through all the seasons, having Michael O'Hare open the channel is my favorite.
-
timwayneAlmost perfect. Almost.I've listened to almost every B5 podcast since The Audio Guide to Babylon 5 started in 2014 with Chip, Erika, and Shannon. Of all of them, I think I might like this one the best. The idea is great: listen to people who've never seen the show before expound upon the episodes, the acting, the writing, and the overall show themes. Hearing their impressions is a treat for someone who, like me, watched them when they came out and has, in the intervening years, watched them more times than I can count. It's almost like watching the episodes for the first time. The show is at its best when the "noobs" are talking without interruption, giving their opinions and observations. I love their predictions. Some of them have an uncanny sense of what's coming. I love when they are right. I love, even more, when they are very wrong. Even the chucklenugget has very much grown on me. And the hosts get extra credit for recruiting non-sci-fi fans to join the conversation. And even more credit for having so many diverse voices. The show is at its worst when the host is laughing at his own jokes. I hate to bring this up because some people laugh when they are nervous or insecure about public speaking. That said, it's in the show, and this is a review, so it's going in. His frequent giggling at his own references is often irritating. Please stop. (My sincere apologies if Steve(?) has Tourettes and the laughter is an uncontrollable thing.) The other First Ones are great. Cranky, opinionated, just my kind of sci-fi people. Not afraid to call out bad writing or bad acting, which this show has in spades, unfortunately. We all love this show, but it's often hit-or-miss, especially during season one, which is when I'm writing this review. All in all, this is a great show. I love what they're doing. I hope all the noobs stay in through the second season, when the show starts picking up speed. (update: I changed my rating to five stars. Sure, this podcast isn’t perfect, but I look forward to it more than any of the other dozen-odd podcasts I listen to, some of which *are* done perfectly. There’s no way I can rate this as less than five, given the happiness it brings me, week after week, even with dude’s giggling. Fair is fair.)
