cje-662CentsHey Evan, I love the Patriots turn of events — just when you thought Bill was gone, we get the rebirth. Vrabel is the essentially the same football guy, just not as grumpy, on the surface a little more touchy geeky with players, and disdainful toward the press. Also really glad that Vrabel is signaling a focus on winning his “balanced” and “efficient” way — not trying to simply entertain the “throw it all over the yard” quant crowd. If I can’t have Bill, I’ll take the next best thing — someone who sees football and leadership the same way ;-) If this outcome doesn’t warm your heart, go report on one of the tight-pantsed coaches who continue not to win anything meaningful (i.e., 1 SB for just about 10 yrs of hype)… Welcome back BB Era 2.0… PS: Now we need to have Eliot exited — no way he continues duck his portion of the responsibility for 5yrs drafting and personnel failure. IHe is the cockroach of personnel people — simply a mediocre or worse survivor

Gnarly GnubsStart Joe Milton Week 18Love the show! I want Drake to play this week against the Chargers but, assuming they lose, they should sit him down (and Gonzo) against the Bills week 18. Buffalo will likely be locked in the 2-seed and resting guys. Pats should protect Drake and get a look at Milton while keeping the 2nd overall pick in tow. Should be able to get a haul from Vegas, Tennessee or Cleveland for the Cam Ward/Shedeur Sanders pick.

dfriedman_6My friends can no longer win a football debate against meWent to college out of state and missed having intelligent football banter. This show makes me feel like I am back on the T yelling at my best friends about minor O line disagreements. If you move out of Mass and miss hearing deeper takes than “you’re washed,” this is perfect for you. If you want to become better at football critical thinking and improve your ability to argue your takes, this is perfect for you. Alex and Evan break down Xs and Os in season as well as giving insight into the general consensus and dynamic of the Gillette workplace. It’s the perfect way to combine fan talk, banter, game recaps, and still learn more about the game every time!

Betty Joe BUnlistenableI have tried this podcast several times but I finally have to end it all. Listening you these two yell over each other is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
-
Mmurph71Love itThey fight like annoying brothers but both know football. Great takes and football knowledge

averagejoe55555Held back by BarthPodcast will never be good until Barth learns to be a professional podcast contributor. Constant interrupting, getting argumentative about pedantic points that don’t matter, and a failure to point/counterpoint effectively sink what could have been a good concept. Oddly, the show is much better when Barth is the host because it gives him a job to do, and saves us from too much Evan.

Chris SimzsSolid Content - Still room to growFellas the depth of knowledge on the team, scheme, financials and ownership is terrific. Genuinely don’t think there’s much to work on in any of these buckets, which is impressive. In my opinion there’s just too much interrupting of one another. I find myself turning off the show consistently only because of this issue. Makes it hard to listen to when there’s an endless stream of cutting the other one off, not listening, raising your voice so you can get your point across. The best podcasts let someone talk fully without fear of being cut off and the other party responds to their points. I think if the two of you can nail this down, it will be the best Pats content available on the market.

clayman34Great showTop patriots podcast. However when people call in you cant hear them. Hope you can fix that
-
DonatelloZzzzIrritating RantsLots of verbal challenges. They interrupt each other
-
ChipfromCTLazar’s voice is unpleasantLike Quint’s fingernails screeching across the chalkboard in Jaws, Lazar’s voice is tough listening. His voice is better suited to the printed, rather than the spoken, word.
-
Raygun_21Great ShowI love how you guys talk football. Just enough detail and critical content.
-
Max3548Great showAwesome duo

Boddah HReal football talk instead of nonsenseMust listen for any Patriots fan

NickName563920Evan and Alex - can’t go wrong for Patriots coverageIf you (like me) grew up in New England and are sick of the shock jock, talking points, hot take structure of most Boston sports media, there’s no better podcast for Patriots coverage than Catch-22. Alex and Evan aren’t going to sugarcoat things or hide critiques but they come from an substantiated, X’s and O’s, player personnel angle and are a refreshing duo for meaningful and INFORMED Pats talk. I though the dream team was broken up when the Patriots Beat podcast lost Evan, but it’s reborn and as good as ever with Catch-22.

Ataner2000Just NoI listen to Patriots unfiltered for years . Love all the guys ( including former host Eric ) when Evan joined the show I like his analysis even though CANT STAND HIS VOICE. In this podcast he’s full of himself and really closed minded about others opinions. It’s a no for me . I’ll stick with PU .

ChefBrendanGreat concept ruined by EvanWhy listen to a host that insults it’s listeners and Patriots fans. Sure Mr Kraft would love to know this is how Evan represents the organization. But what do you expect from a someone who can dish it out but can’t take it. Evan wants to live an an echo chamber and that’s apparent by blocking people that disagree with him or dish the insults right back. No point listening to an ignorant narcissist who refuses to accept someone else’s point view. If you don’t agree with Evan your dumb, a moron or don’t know football. Evan deep down must be miserable.
-
HeidiBetsySo Happy I Found You!I heard Evan for the first time on Patriots Unfiltered. Then I heard about Catch 22. I never miss an episode of Patriots Unfiltered, and now I don’t miss an episode of Catch 22. I don’t always understand what you are talking about, but there isn’t an episode that goes by that I don’t learn something. Thanks for taking the time to watch the film, and trying to help us all be better consumers of the game of football.

57SanchoBarGrillandBakeryBarth and lazar welcome backSo happy these guys are back!
-
critic_yepGood concept - but hijacked by BarthCatch 22 is being hobbled… I have been a regular listener to other Patriots.com podcasts for years. Was not impressed with other Pats podcasts including another podcast Lazar and Barth put on. When I heard that Lazar was going to contribute to Pats Unfiltered I was concerned it would take away from the show. I was wrong, when E. Lazar started showing up I became a huge fan of E. Lazar,s detailed analysis of the team and players. I think it is one of the best parts of the show! So I figured I would give Catch 22 a chance - what I did not like about E. Lazar & Barths other podcasts was illuminated..It’s Barth’s habit of driving the discussion to stupid topics. As a former player I am really interested in the Pats team building player development, and how they can plug in and or replace personnel. Barth’s discussion topics are ruining the experience. I feel like Barths approach is indicative of someone who bases all ideas and values and analysis off of video game stats or capabilities. Let Lazar lead discussion-please.

John in L.A.This podcast rocksYou don’t have to be an all-22 guy to know Fred Kirsch has made yet another savvy hire in locking up Evan Lazar and, now, his old tag team partner, Alex Barth, to bring a new POV to Patriots.com’s coverage of NFL football. Affable and informative, this podcast adds to the team’s constellation of football chat shows. Freddy is on a Brady-like streak. More of these guys, please!
