Faith and Reason Exchange

Explore challenging questions about Christianity in thoughtful, informed, and intellectually stimulating conversations that deepen the connection between faith and reason. Set within the historic Christian tradition, this podcast discusses current scientific, philosophical, and cultural issues as it pursues a faith that better understands and an intellect that has reason to believe. In a time when the world seems to be losing its mind, and hope along with it, our goal is to equip a new generation of critical thinkers who can defend their faith with reason and evidence. Hosted by Dr. David Andersen & Dr. Adam Francisco

    Potential but
I love the subject matter of most of your shows… I’ve been a listener since the first episode and I subscribe to most of the 1517 podcasts. But I find some of your cultural critiques to be nothing more than Fox News talking points. This is disappointing. Your mention of Jonathan Cain is kind of a last straw for me. I simply can’t take him seriously- or take seriously anyone who does. I wish you all the best.

    Quality All the Way
I have enjoyed this podcast come the beginning and it continues to delight. I am trained in physics and enjoy philosophy and theology. This podcast hits my sweet spot while maintaining a sense of humor and humility.

I like these guys but I don’t listen all that often because their conservative politics always seems to come through which I’m sure does not concern them or most of the other listeners much at all. They asked for reviews in the last show though so here’s mine. Thanks

    Am I the 100th?
These gentleman asked for a review to surpass the century mark. I hope this helps. This show is what makes Podcast’s such a great tool to expanding one’s knowledge. I appreciate the unpretentiousness of the hosts when it comes to their combined knowledge on each shows subject. There seems to be no pretense in the conversations between the two. Common talk about uncommon topics. Blue collar scholars!

    Wonderful insights into apologetics
These guys are very knowledgeable and offer some great takes on Christian apologetics. I was looking for resources to deepen my understanding of my faith and how to defend it well, and these guys have been very helpful and informative.

    Loss of credibility
There are a lot of valid critiques to be made of culture at large from a confessional Christian perspective without spreading the patently false rumor of litter boxes being used in schools. I hope in the future the network ensures commentators do not fall prey to disinformation arising from the culture wars.

Everyone should read this address to Harvard
Alexander makes a profound and poignant point over and over. That will resonate to all people. He points directly at the anthropomorphism beginning in the Renaissance of enlightenment as a pivotal point to when the western world turned to humans (recreating or re-emphasizing of Adam’s sin ) and adopting the self centered belief that men can and will by their own means or power create a perfect family, community , society and world. This belief is permeated much (if not most) of humanity and their culture and turned us against our only source of Goodness and Hope for mankind. Our leaders, media (both entertainment and news), our focus and course away from the only source of light to darkness. He only comes short in that he does not come out and expressly say that only by changing to a Christopomorphic (Jesus Christ centered) view can we as individuals and as a society be saved. We need to return (or repent) and face the light. But we lack courage as a nation and as a society to do so. But individually and as a family , we still can find the courage through Jesus Christ to resist the darkness and live in the light of His great love and mercy. Alexander failed to give us the Gospel news of Christ to the church but he came close and pointed to a true salvation of mankind. He makes many courageous and faithful and reasonable points that we all should know but fail to acknowledge (due to our great sin) and hope that anyone who reads this will turn from the darkness to the light of Christ.

I’m in awe of the amount of “ologies” and “isms” I’ve learned from you two. Thanks to Adam and David for making me more knowledgeable each week.

Brilliant yet down to earth; these guys have hung truth and Grace about their necks @BadgerSmith7 The logic of Islam show is very helpful. Star Wars > Star Trek I feel inspired to say how much I’d like to be part of this conversation but inside I know that these two wonderful guys are major league philosophers and I’m Double A Excellent show on docetism. Thanks much for the 5/18 show. It was excellent and very informative.

    Thank you!
I live this pod cast! The humor is just nerdy enough that it’s not over the top. The tradition I was raised in leaned fideistic, Iearned this word in the pod cast; but the idea that we can know YHWH through creation is abundantly conveyed in scripture. Thank you for exposing me to reasoned apologetics!

    Consistently interesting podcast!
Adam and David are a great team of podcasters who bring a clear review of the topic at hand! Who knew philosophy could be so easy to understand!😉

    Amazing!
My mind is blown weekly by the depth of Adam and David’s vast knowledge presented in a hugely enlightening yet non-condescending tone (and believe me, they have reason to be condescending—they are both brilliant!). Please listen, share and review—this show is such a joy!!

Excellent incorporation of religion and science
The Faith and Reason Exchange dives deep into what faith and reason actually are and how that affects current dialogues on religion, science, philosophy, politics, and the life of the individual. Adam and Dave are Oxford trained scholars who incorporate a broad range of perspectives and data to create a compelling case for a view of the Christian Faith that is empirically backed while simultaneously picking apart the worldviews of fideism, scientific materialism, postmodernism, Islam, and Mormonism. I would highly recommend this to anyone, but especially to the following: -Anyone interested in truth claims and how metaphysical claims are backed by empirical evidence and reason -Anyone interested in the historical attestation of Jesus Christ and his resurrection -Christians who believe faith and reason are irreconcilable or provide two completely disconnected ways of knowing -Lutherans who want to understand how their faith and confessions address reasons for the Faith

    Free Audit
Listening to Adam is frequently like auditing a really great class that you didn’t necessarily have the pre-Reqs for, but he doesn’t make you feel bad about it.

Having no formal training in philosophy (outside of some intro class required eons ago) and a newly developing knowledge on Theology (haven’t attended seminary), I have really enjoyed this series! I won’t pretend I am prepared to speak intelligently or join the conversations (yet) on things of reason but they are helping me to appreciate it more. Great conversations, natural dialogue. Love it isn’t scripted. I look forward to joining in listening on their conversation.

Couldn’t be happier with this podcast!
As a fan of the Thinking Fellows, I’ve always wanted to hear more of Adam’s musings on exactly this topic! He and Dr. Andersen are both so knowledgeable, they are defending the reasonableness of the faith without straw-manning the other positions.

This is truly worth your time. These men bring a “be transformed by the renewal of your mind” approach to the topic of faith and reason. If you want to grow in your understanding, this is really an excellent choice.
