The Best Discussion on Palestine Happening Now
The Makdisi brothers and every one of their invaluable guests offer the best opportunity to educate oneself on the crimes that have occurred and are occurring in Palestine. Each episode is an invitation to engage more frequently and deeply on the issues of justice, racism, and contemporary colonialism. Accessible and profoundly moving conversations.

Honest and incisive yet warm and welcoming too—THE BEST
Pretty much the only place I get geopolitical news and commentary these days. Stellar guests, trenchant analysis and absolutely ZERO ego from the brothers. This is NOT a show about the hosts at all, even though they regularly enrich the conversation with vast knowledge and experience from their academic fields and their personal lives. The laser focus on Israel/Palestine is not even remotely a downside in that one can always extrapolate tons about broader international politics. It is clear they think highly of their audience as well - I am challenged and I learn something from every episode.

    A must-listen-to podcast
Few experts are as insightful as the Makdisi brothers on Palestine and west Asia. This should be in everyone’s top 3 sources on the subject.

Incredibly insightful political podcast focused on Palestine/MENA
It is a delight to hear these three brothers discuss, debate, and sometimes disagree. They are all excellent interviewers, all accomplished academics, and they are spread out all over the globe offering a depth of insight and a breadth of expertise that is unmatched in this genre of podcast. They are up there with electronic intifada and the war nerd in terms of a must listen for anybody interested about the future of the world and the future of Palestine.

One of the best podcasts discussing the Israel-Palestinian conflict and politics in the region.

    Informative and Nuanced
Glad I found this show as it features great guests who are experts in their fields and offer important insight into issues of import especially vis a vis the Middle East.

    Thank you!!!
Thank you so much to the Makdisi trio. This is the first podcast I have been able to get really into (as a visual/written word learner), because I feel it speaks to me at my level, and tackles topics of interest to Arab youth seeking liberation with appropriate sensitivity. It also helps that you have the YouTube videos so I can listen while watching your mouths move. I enjoy watching the brothers share the spotlight as like-minded individuals yet with different academic backgrounds and opinions; don’t let anyone cramp your unique styles! I also appreciate when you branch out to additional Levantine countries to Palestine such as Lebanon and Syria, as the past year has proven how our struggles are interconnected. Content to help us understand the contexts of Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq amid the regional imbroglio is or would be also appreciated. All in all, thank you for helping make a nuanced academic understanding of our part of the world accessible in English and for introducing us to important thinkers. It’s a great public service to the Arab peoples and an important defense of our humanity in a dark time in which some try to deny it. And, on the personal level, I have enjoyed binge watching the episodes. Warmly, Layla

    One of the best
Wonderful discussions on the Middle East, largely from an academic perspective. They are continuing the legacy of Edward Said.

    Very informative
Very informative and important information. I would request Saree to narrow his questions to actually ask simple open minded questions as opposed to long winded, multiple questions prefaced with information

    Amazing podcast
The episode with Trita Parsi is the only thing I have listened to or read in the past year that makes sense of US actions. Thanks very much for shedding light on this topic.

For those who want to learn about the Middle East
Always learning something new. Enjoy the rich discussion with guest speakers along with the brothers. So fresh to be unapologetically Palestinian !!! Inspires me to want to delve deeper and read more. Outstanding guests from a variety of disciplines unraveling the myths we have learned in the west.

    So well and informative
I just listened to the first episode I got referred to by my professor for my studies in Political Science, as to whether Universities are complicit in manufacturing silence for Palestinians, and I’m looking forward to listening more to the respected scholarship within this platform.

    Guests
Have you considered guests with whom you don’t agree but who are influential in various ways, eg Aaron David Miller? Israeli (American) academics who claim others have an atavistic attachment to decolonization? Jewish studies chairs who want to have some distance from Israel advocacy? Democratic Party mandarins who think you’re right but are screwing things up for a big tent, or that the electoral calculus spelled out says genocide can be managed? “Humane left” figures who claim they’re not Zionists and may believe that?

  • kafka6969
    Highly recommend
This podcast hosts thoughtful conversations with scholars bringing inciteful analysis and context for understanding and acting in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle amidst this horrific stage of acute genocide in Gaza. These long form conversations are a welcome respite to the short form media overload on other platforms.

Where else do you get the whole story?
I was lucky enough to have a friend recommend this podcast to me and I have listened to it every episode since. The guests are always so knowledgeable and share information that is hard to find elsewhere. If you are being honest with yourself, then you will see Western media has an extreme Israel bias and an extreme bias against Palestinians. This podcast allows you to hear from stories and doctors and people who have experienced the history of what has happened to Palestine. For the hosts, it would be awesome if you would just add a subscription tier to Apple podcast so that we could also participate without going to Patreon.
  • abdearheart
    Essential listening
The episode with Dr. Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian is devastating. The Makdisi brothers are not only each intellectually brilliant and experts in their fields but also compassionate and tactful interviewers.

    A must!
Absolutely amazing podcast. I’m Palestinian and thought I knew a lot but I have learned so much more from these amazing scholars. I enjoy their guests, their capacity to listen beautifully and engage in thoughtful discussion, their ability to challenge when they feel appropriate, and their all around capacity to educate. Recommend 1000%
  • آیة
    Eye opening, heartbreaking, and energizing
I learn so much through the historical, theoretical, and political analysis the hosts and their guests offer. I’m often left aghast at the level of cruelty Palestinians face at the hands of the Israeli government, aided by the US, that are discussed. Yet the show itself and all involved set an example for how there is so much we all can do to speak up and act out against the inhumanity we have been witnessing for decades.
  • Lucfmnt
    Incredible nuance
This podcast is vital for anyone’s historical education in the region. Three PhD/professors with deep knowledge of the area and a list of incredible guests. 12/10 recommend.

Must-listen to stay informed about Palestine
This is the best podcast I’ve found about Palestine and Gaza. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s interested in listening to intelligent and deep analysis of the history and current situation of Palestine.

    Phenomenal Podcast
This is a phenomenal podcast and a much needed contribution to the discussions we are having about the Middle East and Palestine. I have left every episode changed in some way for the better.
  • artimal planet
    Pro terrorism podcast
Ussama Makdisi said “I could have been one of those who broke through the siege on October 7” seemingly approving of and regretful that he didn’t partake in the targeted slaughter and rape of innocent people. The pro-Palestinian intelligentsia is morally bankrupt and leading a generation of otherwise well-meaning young adults down a dark road of terrorism apologia and, yes, antisemitism.
  • Feral Rhetor
    Listen deeply.
This podcast is rich in intellect, driven by personal and collective passion about the genocide occurring in Gaza. This is no surprise given the brothers Makdisi and their always incisive, engaging guests but it also has so much heart and often their shared experiences create a space for grieving the violent loss of a place and the suffering of its people. Yet despite the grim intensity of this moment for Palestinians, the discussions are always laced with glimmers of hope. Free, free 🇵🇸.
  • Katie the Pest
    Intelligent, Humane, and Necessary
I highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in Palestine, especially if you are looking for a respite from the one-sided, dehumanizing discourse in mainstream political media. Brilliant hosts and guests who consistently approach the “issue” of Palestinian struggle with depth, sophistication, and sensitivity. Thank you for making this show!
