The first lecture presented evidences that self-imposed stereotypes can be harmful if the stereotype is harmful. Interesting information. However the presenter went on to argue that affirmative action is the only response to that, in the case of race, because White and Asian people can get past their negative self-conceptions while other races are incapable. Unsubstantiated claims following a logically established framework does not make those claims logical by extension.

Are you kidding me?? I could not get through one lecture. This is from the Dark Ages. Stereotypes lecture was so outdated.

I dont hear anything. Is there a special way of accessing these lectures? Do i need to download them to hear them? anybody know?

Really? this is what Stanford is putting out? disappointing.

Usually I like hearing psychology talks because of all the neat things you learn about yourself and others. There are definitely things to be learned in these, but I could have done without all 6 of these lectures. Possibly even the reviewer who called it politically correct might have a point for several of the talks,

I was excited about this course after reading the great reviews. After 6 hours that it took to finally download just the 1st video, each time I try to watch the video I get a msg that says, "playback failed".

I wish my days in college were like this.

I highly recommend these lectures! Kelly McGonigal did an amazing job with this course, as with every course she teaches. I got a lot out of the series. I recommend these lectures for everyone, both for people who study psychology, and those who are just casually interested.

These lectures make me think of the happenings that go about everyday that play a great role in my life . I feel that because of these videos I can tackle the adversity I face with the power of mental strength.
