    Top level training
This is not just a surface level writing and marketing podcast. This is a business focused, cutting edge podcast for writers. And Thomas really covers everything, always look back through the archive when you have a writing, tech, scheduling, culture question.

Essential if you are serious about writing, publishing, and selling your stories
This podcast is perfect for anyone who has written something they want to publish and is serious about becoming successful as an author. In this new landscape of self publishing and AI, there are too many instant success gimmicks that will simply take your money and leave you frustrated, not to mention still unsuccessful. Thomas is truthful but also kind and optimistic in his outlook and advice. No shortcuts, just great advice. And he is very generous! The content available for free is tremendous. But I'm so enthusiastic about his wisdom that I joined as a Patreon supporter (my first and only btw) to get access to the amazing tools. I only wish I had found this podcast years ago!

    The Sci-Fi Zeitgeist what????
had no idea what a MAGA right wing show this was until Sci-Fi Zeitgeist has Shifted episode where he takes aim at all of the cherished left leaning/progressive projects to improve conditions for humanity: Environmental stewardship, renewable energy and family planning. Too bad. before this episode I thought there was some thoughtful information. But I don't need political and ideological rhetoric contaminating my creative process.

The longest running, most informative, empowering, logical book marketing podcast in the world.
Thomas really has his finger on the pulse of the publishing industry and is willing to bring the facts to light for the rest of us. There are few true shortcuts in life, but if you want proven marketing ideas and industry insights without taking the hundreds of hours to research it yourself, look no further. And while you’re at it, tap that “support the show” link in the episode description and give Thomas 5 reasons to keep this thing going. Something magical will happen when you pay even a little bit for the gold that’s being poured into your ears: you’ll value it enough to act on it. I hope Thomas lives VERY long and prospers. He is a treasure to the author industry.

    Excellent advice
New listener - I have been really struggling to break my phone addiction and be more creative. The episode on “Why Your Book is Still Unfinished” had some excellent tips I had never heard before. I really appreciate fresh thinking and the judgement-free way the suggestions were presented.

    Fantastic podcast.
I put off listening to this podcast for so long, mostly because I thought it would take too much mental energy that I didn’t have enough of already. But I finally started listening basically from the beginning, and wow, it’s already been so helpful, encouraging, and inspiring. Thank you for what you do. Savanna Ammons savannaammons.com

Hands down best podcast out there for writers
I am an indie author and have scoured the internet for blogs and podcasts on how to write, publish, and market my book. This podcast is far and above the most helpful of everything I have found online. Very grateful.

    Really great, unless you’re Amish!
I love this show, I’m binging it like a fiend! The only downside is that it doesn’t tell me how to market my website to Amish people! ;-)

    Excellent Podcast
Excellent information, extremely helpful. The best part is that it is all free. However, I like the show so much, and have learned so much, that I decided to join their Patreon to support it! The host, Thomas Umstadd, has a good amount off excellent courses online as well. highly recommended!

Everything you need to know about marketing!
I love how Thomas and his guests share everything authors need to know to not only market their books, but also what you need to know long before you start writing it. And then when you start your publishing journey you’ll find all the answers to the questions you have. I highly recommend you tune in and learn from Thomas and other authors who have been there done that. You won’t be disappointed! Kim Stewart | Book Marketing Mania for Christian Authors

Solid Beginner Podcast but too much religion
Pros: well-edited, practical information for beginners Cons: host brings up religion in every episode and his political views less frequently… don’t be fooled by the title. This is a Christian Novel Marketing Podcast. Beware: Host assumes any review mentioning religion is an attack on his character (his true self) as opposed to honest feedback letting him know he is alienating listeners. Though from a business standpoint there is something to be said for podcasting to a niche.

I always learn something with Thomas
Really enjoy this podcast. Thomas comes at publishing from many angles and finds topics that the other author podcasts aren’t always covering. Highly recommend subscribing, to the new and the more established authorpreneurs.

    Top of my list!
I found and began listening to Novel Marketing a few months ago. It was so relevant, informative, and entertaining that I began binging the old episodes and became a patron of Author-Media. Awesome job Thomas Umataddt Jr!

    So Helpful!
I have found Novel Marketing to be the best and easiest for me to understand. Thomas spells things out for those of us who don’t have a marketing background, and shares his wealth of knowledge freely. This is definitely worth the time taken to listen.

    Consistent great book marketing advice
I have been listening to Novel Marketing for a year-and-a-half, and I’m constantly impressed by Thomas Umstattd’s ability to put marketing terms into bite-size applicable pieces. Because of his podcast I have a very clear marketing plan moving forward, and because the world is always changing, I will continue listening each week for new ideas on how to tweak it.
  • Ckelley116
    Nothing new here…
…except having the host’s religion shoved down your throat. Maybe consider that all kinds of people, from all kinds of faiths, also want to know how to sell books. And if you can’t get through an episode without mentioning your own belief system, perhaps consider mentioning the authors who support you that aren’t also CHRISTIAN writers. You already have a Christian publishing show. Use that one to pontificate if you must. Still, I might’ve been able to get past that if he wasn’t also a Trumptian. Anyone who worships that bloated orange menace is not worth my support. I moved on to the Sell More Books Show with Bryan Cohen and Claire Taylor. They’re far less superior, they’re entertaining and the information is much better.

Real deal. Informative, helpful and fun.
This Thomas Umstattd Jr is the real deal. I’ve listened to this podcast and his other (Christian Publishing Show) for a while now, even took one of his courses. The information on this show is challenging and helpful and delivered in a fun, positive way. I know I wouldn’t be as far along as I am now in my publishing journey without the content from this show. It’s one I wait each week for new episodes to drop and listen to amazing archives in between. So grateful for Nobel Marketing!

    Wow-Just Wow!
I just listened for the first time today and i'm blown away by all the amazing information included in this podcast. My fingers were smokin LOL as I typed notes as fast as I could to take notes on all of the incredible insights i gleaned from Thomas Umstattd Jr. As a traditionally published author of 4 books, and self-published of 2 books, and more books to come...Novel Marketing Podcast has officially just become my new favorite marketing expert and coach! Bravo. Thank you to my friend Tricia Goyer for introducing me to this incredible wealth of wisdom!

I love this show, and listen to it regularly. I have learned so much through Thomas’s clear advice and expertise. He provides incredible insight into the industry, gives actionable instructions on how to move forward in your writing career, and he always makes it fun. Rocket Fuel
Novel Marketing Podcast, and the courses that tie in to the podcast teaching of Thomas Umstattd, Jr., are like rocket fuel for creating a brand, finding an audience, launching a book, and promoting your book and backlist. I wholeheartedly recommend this 'Vulcan of Book Marketing.' He also hosts Christian Publishing Show, so the bonus is Thomas understands the Christian indie/trad publishing market. You will not regret spending time on a single episode. You can research back episodes and topics on AsktheVulcan.com, and also you can read the show notes that summarize or transcript the episodes as a blog on Authormedia.com.

    Powerful! Engaging! And Entertaining!
Thomas is a powerful, engaging, informative, and entertaining podcast host. His podcasts are filled with information that you can take to the bank and help you sell more novels than you ever thought possible. Turn off your TV, put down your book, take out your pen and paper, and take lots of notes from a teacher who understands your needs.

    Would have given 5 stars
I love this program. It’s very helpful and informative, but having misophonia, I can’t always listen when the mouth noises and constant swallowing get to be excessive. Running the audio through a noise gate will fix this. Otherwise, if that kind of thing doesn’t bother you, definitely give this one a shot.
  • Taylor S.Wift
Show is a front for his Patreon scam
Signed up for access to podcast directory which is available for only $5 if you become a member. However, when checking out, it then says its $10 for a full month of access. So I bite the bullet at the last week of January. Beginning Feb Im denied access. No customer support despite emails, phone calls and social media contact. Beware!!

    A go-to podcast for authors
I’m so appreciative of this podcast. I can always count on interesting, informative content. Additionally, the guests as well as Thomas himself seem like intentional, conscientious people in both their professional and personal lives. Do I know that for sure? Of course not. But the overall tone of the podcast is that I’m listening to people and information I can respect and trust.
